Maybe not enough so he shipped him away, but we'll see what kind of impact he has in a new team.

Mind you, he did look good late in the season with the Jackets but we'll have to see what he does in a full season.

E: Just to comment a bit more on JJ's advanced stats. His relative corsi was very poor throughout but his relative QoC and PDO have steadily increased since; that's with him getting fewer O-zone starts and in 2011-12 he finished more than he started there. So there has been tons of signs of improvement, statistics wise. But obviously Lombardi felt he was no longer a fit.
Agreed about it being out of context, taken on its own it sounds pretty bad but Lombardi is being more critical of Michigan coaching for sure. Interesting that Red Berenson is always thought highly of but clearly Lombardi disagrees. Johnson has to score ES for him to be ever worth a damn as a hockey player even strength, the defense will always be an issue but he's talented enough to score way more and make up some of the difference.

Tampa:

Pucell - Stamkos - St.Louis
Malone - Vinny - Brown
Pyatt - Little - Connolly
Hall - Thompson - Crombeen/Wilson/Pouliot

Enström- Alzner
Hedman - Salo
Brewer - Carle

Ward
Lindbäck

Ward would give us a great goalie and together with Lindbäck form a strong duo, Alzner and Enström would give us three solid pairs in the defense (not counting with Öhlund) and Little would be a great third line center, something we need!

Just gotta love how this thread has been conducted for what is now nine pages with good grace and respect for every single team involved... except the Blue Jackets and CBJ players.

Also, I'm not a Rangers fan, but I think this has to be the ultimate unbeatable team:

Kovalchuk - Crosby - Giroux
Nash - Tavares - Gaborik
Hagelin - Richards - Callahan
Kreider - Stepan - Boyle

McDonagh - Girardi
MDZ - Staal
Stralman - Sauer

Lundqvist
Biron

That first line would be one of the greatest lines of all time, and would simply score at will. The 2nd line would be easily one of the best lines in the post lockout era, probably roughly on par with the Pizza Line. The 3rd line is a solid 1st line on most teams, and the 4th line a solid 2nd line on most teams. Simply ridiculous forwards, with arguably the best goalie in the world in net, and a group of dmen that are proven to play phenomenal defence. This team would be truly unstoppable. This team would be winning games by 5+ goals on a very, VERY regular basis.

This seems really easy for anyone in the Atlantic division.

Crosby, Lundqvist, Giroux, Tavares, Kovalchuk? Any team that isn't the Rangers could use a better goalie so I can't imagine anyone team REALLY needing another Ranger over the best goalie in the game. Everyone else seems obvious.

Dude just give it a rest. The fact of the matter is that Columbus really doesn't have any very desirable players outside of Johnson.

No great forward, just a number of solid ones
No great goaltender

Not saying that's a bad thing nor am I saying Columbus will suck this year. I'm simply saying that there's no real standout player in that line-up.

When folks stop blaming our existence for the lockout, I'll consider it. Being a punchline is one thing, but the treatment we've been getting is quite another.

Most of the blueline is underrated, but frankly that's not my issue. I'm not annoyed that folks aren't picking other CBJ players or anything like that. I'm annoyed because literally the only team in this thread where players selected or the team itself have been out-and-out insulted and dismissed is the Blue Jackets.

There have been times when folks have said "why'd you pick X when Y is available". There have been unusual off-the-board selections here and there. There's even (since I posted that) been one "I can't stand the Sens, so I'm not participating". But nobody has actually gone out and said "Why would anyone want any player for team X", or "I laugh anytime selects Player Y [from team X]" for any team except Columbus.

In a thread where folks have gone to great lengths to be respectful to everybody else, we're being singled out for insults. So I think I have every right to be pissed off.

(I do at least appreciate, though, that in at least one of those cases the poster leveling the insult got piled on by other participants. Still... literally the only team. It's absurd.)
