Niedermayer voted into Hockey Hall of Fame

Hall of Fame voting is happening now and Scott Niedermayer is practically a lock to be the first Anaheim Duck in the Hall.

Will he go in as a Duck though? That would be somewhat strange...

Are we talking since the name change from the Mighty Ducks? As Adam Oates is already a HOF'er

My gut reaction is that Niedermayer should be a Devil, no question.

But if you look at his top years objectively, well he's actually had a similar number of good years in both jerseys.

I had interpreted it as being in the HOF with the team's jersey.

It would be considering Scotty has said he'd go in as a Devil.

Still strange though, I would think it's a stretch to suggest he should be going in with an Anaheim jersey.

Granted he had 2 of the best seasons in terms of point production of his career in Anaheim, and got a Conn Smythe and a Cup.

He still won 3 Cups in NJ and is their all time leading points producer amongst defencemen on top of having his jersey retired in New Jersey.

Think it would be hard to make a case for him to go in with an Anaheim jersey when you look how long he played for NJ and what he achieved compared to Anaheim

I agree Scotty should go in as a Devil. I'm wondering though, is that the players choice or is there any kind of rule on that? Remember, the Hockey Hall of Fame is not an NHL exclusive HOF. So who knows how all that is handled.

Regardless of any of that, Teemu will obviously be the first true Duck (most of his career success in ANA) to enter.

I stand corrected. I meant that Scotty would be the first player to have played for the Ducks to be inducted but I totally spaced on Oates. My bad.

Giguere has a borderline case, but his lack of vezinas will likely keep him out.

Players inducted to the NHL HHoF don't go in with jerseys. There is a glass headshot portrait of them that doesn't show a jersey.

Here's a picture of the Great Hall with the portraits of all of the inductees surrounding the Stanley Cup and other major hockey trophies:

Kurri was inducted in 2001.

I disagree that it's not even close, but I don't believe he'll get in.

I believe it's only the Baseball Hall of Fame where players go in with a team, as in wearing their team's hat.

However this is going to be the first player inducted that had a substantial impact on the Ducks. I've always held off on going to the Hockey Hall of Fame because we have no players who really played for us in it. Finally we get to start seeing some of "our" people go in...

Still hoping Paul Kariya gets in someday. One the highest scoring and most exciting players of his generation. The HOF will soon have to adjust it's offensive standards as we move towards a new era of players and that should help Kariya's chances.

1st HOF to have played on the Ducks for over 2 years.

Nonetheless, Scotty definitely deserved it.
