Defensemen and depth forwards featured in San Jose Sharks group of CHL prospects

The San Jose Sharks have six prospects developing at the junior level. While that number is small in comparison to other organizations, it is a case of quality versus quantity for the Sharks. The group consists of three defenders, two centers, and a goalie. All of them could be considered dark horse prospects at their time of acquisition but they continue to develop and surprise.

Led on the back end by two sixth round selections in Konrad Abeltshauser and Dylan DeMelo, the group of CHL prospects is having a fairly successful 2012-13 campaign thus far. There have been some bumps along the way, most notably, J.P.… read more

DeMelo played four games for Worcsdtse at the end of last season. He looked pretty good out there.

Just wanted to say, thanks to Brad Gardner for helping out (once again) with the editing. I hope you guys enjoy the update--it's not groundbreaking stuff, but I hope it keeps you informed.

Oh and, the twitter stuff didn't make the final cut, so for some extra reading pleasure, and a look inside the players discussed in this article:

It's almost a shame that there's a lockout this year. DeMelo's case for Team Canada would've been stronger without the depth that the lockout is affording the team. As it stands he's probably not even going to make it to the training camp.

I'm a bit surprised that Pelech (And Spoony) got the call above DeMelo. DeMelo plays a much more reliable game. In all actuality, I couldn't see DeMelo cracking the final squad, but injuries do happen and spots can open up. The experience and the nod would have been great for his development. No sharks on Team Canada.
