Is Wisdom better than Robinson though? Why not Robinson on the left and Johnson on the right?

Johnson might be a better left back than right back. Seems less likely to make defensive mistakes on the left side.

Great goal by Downing, maybe now he'll see what happens when he runs at defenders.

Newcastle wins and hopefully they can carry it over into Sunday's match.

Pretty good victory over a strong team. Assaidi was excellent and Wisdom in particular looks like a future top class player. Not a mistake made, strong as it gets on and off the ball, tough as hell to beat for pace because he's a physical monster. Jones has also been very good with Reina out, I'm very comfortable with him in goal. Really enthusiastic about how many quality young players we have. For the first time in quite a while I think we're on our way up to where we need to be, which is winning trophies and consistently bringing young players into the first team. This should be a fun ride under Rodgers and I can't wait to see what the future holds, the club is building towards something good.

Must say, Liverpool probably have the best youth collection in the league and it isn't that close.

The crazier part is a few who can play and contribute haven't gotten in yet (Yesil, Sinclair, McLaughlin, Nacho) but Wisdom, Suso, Shelvey and Sterling is pretty absurd. Throw in Allen, Kelly, Borini and Henderson who are under 23 and its a pretty crazy period at the club.

Oh and Wisdom is a beast. Flanagan and Robinson have a lot to offer at fullback, but he's already probably forcing the issue with his play.

Assaidi was also abusing their right back all game. Looks special

In the lineup right now?

I also wouldn't exactly constitute a guy who has won a major League MVP as a youth talent.

Ah OK, I consider a "young talent" someone who's "young" and "talented"...

True. Though I do think LFC have a good depth with some comparable players (though probably not of Hazards level)

I think Chelsea has the best by virtue of having two players who have shown enough to be surely world-class players either now or very soon. Lukaku seems like a big wild card at this stage because he doesn't seem to be all that happy with having to earn playing time. If ours come along to that degree we shall see, but having five players 20 or under moved into the first team who look like great talents and possibly future top players is pretty good over the course of just a few months. I'm most surprised by Wisdom because I did not think he would be good enough as a right back, but he's been great. Now Kelly will have to move back to center back which I have wanted for some time.

Considering only one of these (Shelvey) was getting first team action consistently last year, can't complain.

Arsenal has Gnabry and Leverkusen has Yesil while Chelsea have just Marin, clearly the first two have the best academies in England.

this Anzhi-Liverpool match is so tedious, Anzhi's build-up play is walking pace at best
