Well FWIW, the steroid that Bonnar used was something that prevents water retention, making it easier to cut weight. So for all we know, he could have gotten big naturally and used the steroid to cut weight. Either way, he's retiring and he lost the fight so at this point it really doesn't matter.
He already got busted for roids once before.
Doesn't really matter what it's used for though, it's still cheating. He shouldn't have taken the fight if he couldn't make weight.
Dostranolone (Masteron) is often taken at the conclusion of a cycle. This leads me to believe that Bonnar was on a more powerful anabolic months prior to the fight, stopped early enough to get it out of his system, and then took Dostranolone. It also has benefits during a cycle because it is an aromatase inhibitor, meaning it blocks the conversion of testosterone to estrogen. It's also popular because it is usually out of your system relatively quickly. Apparently Bonnar just didn't quite time this right. To think that Bonnar has never used any of the more anabolic steroids but was familiar with Masteron is quite naive.
Is anyone else having trouble with Bloody Elbow's new site on their phones? Always boots me back to my home screen. If you haven't don't worry about responding so that we don't clutter the thread, I was just curious if anyone else has experienced this.
TMZ reporting Ronda Rousey is officially now in the UFC and that the January SF show is the last. Keep in mind, this is TMZ.
Ariel Helwani says it's true. Strikeforce is done.
The Strikeforce women's bantamweight champion has fought her final fight for the promotion and is set to make her UFC debut in the near future, TMZ reported Thursday night. The Web site also reported that the recently announced Jan. 12 Strikeforce card in Oklahoma City will be the promotion's last.
MMAFighting.com confirmed with sources close to the promotion that both news items are in fact true and more information is expected to be released early next week.
Not news or anything and I think these may have been posted before but this guy does some pretty good impersonations of certain fighters. Nothing overly funny, but some of the impersonations are pretty close. The Wandy and Overreem ones made me chuckle. His Helwani impression is bang on, I assume it's Ariel himself.
Cyborg's docs advised her it would be way too risky for her to attempt to make 135, so I don't think we'll see that happening. I know I've mentioned this before, but if Rousey thinks she's so tough then she should take the fight at 140 or 145. Problem very easily solved.
