Did anyone in Canada catch the score fighting series lastnight?

Jordan Mein looked amazing, I can't wait to see him in the UFC some day.

Ronson also dismantled the very gm Ryan Healy. Hopefully the Canadian tuf happens soon so he can get on that.

Sounds like the Silva/GSP fight won't be happening anytime soon:

http://www.mmafighting.com/2012/11/2...en-the-time-is

Disappointing but also not surprising at all, he wants no part of Anderson Silva. He has been saying for years now that he would need time to get ready for that fight but I'm guessing he won't be ready until Anderson is 40 and has one foot out the door. If you're not going to fight him, just come out and say it and end the discussion. Don't give everyone this crap about needing time to move up 7 lbs and maybe fighting him in the future.

I was impressed at the Gretzky shutout then remembered the guy is Canadian. Let's hope Sonnen get injured, so Jones can fight Silva instead.

FOX hoping to broadcast UFC Superbowl weekend

Quote:
The network is already set to air Super Bowl XLVIII on Feb. 2, 2014 from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., and Eric Shanks, president of FOX Sports Media Group, said on a Tuesday conference call to promote UFC on FOX 5 that he hopes the UFC will hold an event in the area the night before the big game.

"We would love to," Shanks said of the idea. "We think that Super Bowl week, in New York, is going to be unlike anything else. We're going to own the city. We're going to own that week of sports television, and there's nothing better that we can think of than a big fight that week.

"So, we're talking to Dana and Lorenzo about that -- love for it to happen -- we're going to see if they can put it together."

That would be pretty kick ass for NY/NJ and FOX if this were to happen.

Highly doubt FOX gets that card. UFC always does a PPV superbowl weekend/around there, don't they?

Yea they've done one in Vegas on the Saturday night since 2004. It's definitely a big money maker for the UFC and I know I've heard Dana talking about how the casino's really push for them to have an event there that weekend.

One thing to consider is that New York/New Jersey is more or less Jon Jones' territory(or at least the UFC is trying to build it as such similar to GSP/Montreal and Silva/Brazil) and February/2014 could be a prime target for a potential super fight involving Jon Jones, whether it's a fight with Anderson Silva or Jones moving up to take a HW fight I can't imagine the UFC would promote such an event on "free tv" though unless FOX really made it worth their while.

Get ready for Diaz/GSP, farraz started the promoting today saying nick was the #1 contender based on his destruction of bj & toss up fight with condit.

I really wanted to see the beard get the shot but what the hell, I can't say I don't want to see that fight.

For GSP it makes a tone of sense, this is the only matchup that can generate him the big PPV $s like the superfight would. Yes, it won't be as big but it mist likely is still a huge fight.

The link is on mmajunkie.

I don't think that will happen, because I think if MacDonald wins the UFC won't want to risk him cancelling out Hendricks as a viable title contender when MacDonald may not fight GSP.

I still think Hendricks is most deserving of the shot, and hopefully he gets it. If not, he should either wait or fight someone he will most certainly beat - someone from Strikeforce maybe?

Also, I hope Penn goes back down regardless of whether he wins or loses.

I'd really like to see Nick Diaz fight Damien Maia when he comes back.

I also think kos was running his mouth, those 2 could sell the hell out of a co-main on a card.

Maia would be fantastic to watch, ground excellence.

Diaz doesn't deserve the shot but like you said, can't really say no to this fight. After Silva/GSP and JDS/Overeem, this is the fight I really want to see.

I wonder if Marquardt is coming over.

I'd like to see him and Woodley come across, as well as a few other welterweights (Saffiedine, etc).

If GSP does fight Diaz next, maybe they can have Hendricks fight somebody like Hardy as a co-main on a card in Europe or something.

I think it's easier to see rapid gains when you use PEDs.

Sonnen is pretty tall though (6'1") so I'm not surprised. His walking weight is probably ~210-220. I always thought he was short (5'10") but maybe it's because of his fighting style.

Just read something where Dolce said Sonnen was 218 in the cage at 148 against Silva and walks around at 230, so I guess it's not as big a surprise as I thought.

I'm not surprised at all. Saw him last summer in person and I (6'2 205) felt tiny next to him. People underestimate how big him and Forrest Griffin actually are, both are bigger dudes than you would think

All the fighters said it was a natural move for Chael to jump up. Most questioned why he moved down (lack of power, really) a few years back. He has a solid build that can hold a ton of muscle mass.

BUT "240 and ripped" could be dangerous. He has 4 months, but you dont want to transform your body in order to cut.
