Amazing how so many words can be dedicated to someone so completely irrelevant to this organization. A fringe AHL 4th liner who was loaned to another AHL team. Yeah, I'm sure some extra conditioning work will turn him into an NHL player.
Oh, wait, his name is Staal, so we're supposed to pretend he has some sort of talent.
I actually like measurements in feet and lbs as far as individuals heights and weights go. And when I brew I prefer the imperial weights simply because that's what the standard measurements are in. But when I do my other sciencey stuff I prefer metric. How the hell does that work?
I find that the British system is better for your average everyday measurements. A small item is a few inches or pounds, not dozens of centimeters or kilograms. A tall house is a large number feet, not just a few meters. Measuring, say, the height of a skyscraper or the weight of a feather is a different story.
This September is the worst hockey month in years.

Rationalize it all you want but the truth is, the "British system" is illogical and inaccurate. Antique as I said before... You're just used to it. Not that I really think it's that serious
I just remember when I started following North American media more, I was confused with feet and other body parts used as measures. The logic behind it was a mystery to me but nowadays I'm quite used to it and I can translate usual body lengths and weighs to cm's and kg's.

I kind of think of him as like, the collector's edition Staal brother. You know, only people who really, really care way too much about a particular kind of collectible will buy him. We like to collect Staals, therefore, we HAD to have him, even though he kinda just takes up space on the shelf and has to be dusted.

I very much like this analogy. Especially since he's never actually going to taken out of his box.
Oddly enough, in the cycling community, I notice that most of the UK magazines refer to body height and weight in pounds and feet/inches. They also talk a bout the weight of bikes in pounds. And yet, here in the states the cycling community is totally hung up on using the metric system!

It's internally logical and, as far as I know, completely accurate. Just inefficient compared to metric.
I don't have to "rationalize" it... I just don't mind its eccentricities. Having an intuitive grasp of it due to being born into using it, and not being a scientist, the inefficiency doesn't really matter to me on a day to day basis.
Hey TKosto was awesome, getting him back would be great for the 4th line.
I wasn't commenting on him in terms of his effort or play, just that I personally don't consider him as adding that much "size" to the 4th line (just as TK didn't). I guess it's all relative though. Compared to LaRose and Dwyer he brings size and a physical edge, but Nodl is listed as 6'1, 196, so Wallace isn't a whole lot bigger than him.
I think Wallace might be a similar mold to TK but not as good of a player. The things I've read about Wallace: Hardworking 4th liner who isn't afraid to hit and agitate occasionally. Marginal NHL player because of mediocre skating and minimal offensive skills. Willing to fight but awful at it.
Sounds a LOT like a poor mans Tom Kostopoulos to me.

Sounds a lot like every "enforcer" since...Darren Langdon? And even he fit the bill on all but that last qualifier...

Probably true, but some enforcers have had a little more size as well. Wallace isn't small at 6'1, 205ish (especially compared to the guys we have), but I guess when JR said he wanted to add some size I had "bigger" expectations. Probably unrealistic on my part.
The Hockey News I just got in the mail says Semin did an english interview with Chip not too long ago. Anyone know where it's at? I couldn't find anything on google, but I'd love to read//listen to it.
