scary **** going on right now.

i'm too far away from metropolis to hear anything, but i assume the popo are still swarming.

should be quite interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks and months. We might be witnessing a major moment in canadian history here.

also, condolences to the dead and the injured, both of whom likely were not targets.

Thought you guys would all get a kick outta this. I was looking through a Sears catalogue and came across this:

where's the ?

And hold on... who's getting assassinated?

Wishing Well and Even if She Falls are both unreal. I also really like Ghosts on the Dance Floor. You're completely right about the singles too. Up All Night is terrible imo. After Midnight is OK.

That's quite humorous.

And a newly elected premier of Quebec was just shot at but is fine. Scary **** though.

attempted... the new pemier ministre du quebec, at her victory speech. One shot fired, one dead, one injured. Marois is fine. 50's yo man taken into custody and gun recovered. Man allegedly shouted "the english are awakening" while being taken into custody.

if you've been following the election at all, one issue that the CAQ (third place party) and PQ (winners) have been on about is the anglicism of montreal, as all the french natives have been moving out of the city and being replaced by english (well, english as a second language, but they choose to conduct business and public life in english rather than french) immigrants.

Yikes... it's not 1885, why can't the english and french communities just get along? Sad to hear.

Agreed, which is why I'm surprised it's not bigger news.

I mean, CBC's currently in the midst of running a story about vending machines in high schools.

They do that every year when school is about to get back in, all the food and drinks in them are healthy crap now. But yeah, now CBC has a good story for the next month or so.

They spent over an hour talking about it, just don't have enough details to go on

So yeah, remember when I said this a few hours ago?

THIS could be something that causes a radical change in sentiment on the part of many Quebec voters.

I guarantee this will be spun as a call for Quebec sovereignty. I can't imagine a scenario where they don't try to turn this into a French-vs.-English, "Us-vs.-Them" fight. French-English Canadian relations took a MASSIVE hit tonight. No idea where this leaves us...

RIP to the unnecessary death, it's a horrible day for politics in Canada. Regardless of my feelings about Marois or the PQ, this sort of thing is absolutely unforgivable. It's a black mark on our electoral history.
