^I actually hold a slightly different opinion of the late rounds of this year's draft. The Canucks went with the "older crowd" in 2009 with positive (so far) results in prospects such as Connauton and Cannata. I think guys like Beattie could be quite interesting.
Of course, I'm pretty sure I said the same thing about prospects such as Butcher and Fredheim in years past (although Fredheim actually made it to the show for a cup of coffee, good for him).
Wow, the guy made it to the NHL for 3 games last year...considering that he's a 6th rounder, that has to be seen as a solid job by our scouts (even though we didn't sign him).

The only reason he was signed and called up was because the Wild's defense was depleted due to injuries.
^Even still, that's a pretty solid accomplishment for Fredheim. He's had a pretty solid AHL career too, so not a complete dud at the spot he was picked at.
Nicklas was playing on the 2nd line. Glad to see he's finally being moved up, even if only a little bit.
You shouldn't really look too much at what line he is on. All three top lines play almost equal minutes every game. The Ahlström+Steen line that is usual listed as the 1st line was listed as the 3rd line today, but Oscar Steen was still the AIK forward who played the most minutes. And strangely enough Jensen wasn't on his regular line when he got his assist, he was playing with Steen and Oscar Ahlström. AIK seems to be trying to have three balanced lines instead of 1 or 2 good ones. That is why you see a guy like Mattias Nylen, who is clearly inferior to Jensen, playing with Esa Pirnes and Björn Melin, probably the two best forwards on AIK.
In short, don't get caught in what line number Jensen is playing on, AIK seems to consider the top 3 lines more or less equal in terms of responsibility and playing time.

On the plus side at least the scouts were in the right area. On the downside we spent a draft pick on someone you could have for free at league min in every off season.
Edit: Gratz to Fredheim though, cracking the NHL any way you can is an awesome achievement.
About Tommernes, I've heard a lot of speculation about him not wanting to come over. Has this been pure speculation or is there any basis behind this? In my mind, he's certainly top 4 material.

since ive never heard any speculation of that nature at all ever until literally right now i'm going to say it's really awful bad racist guessing
Watching a bit of that Jensen AIK game today, he could have had another assist if Little converted on his breakaway. Jensen sprung him with a great pass from the about 10ft inside his own blue line to the opposite blue line.
People on here. The guy is 22, quite often they come over by that age. So why hasn't he then if he has intent to?
i didnt say "here's my justification for not assuming a thing about somebody", and i don't have to provide it. making the assumption that he doesn't want to come over actually requires something substantive

Stop getting defensive, I was asking a legitimate question that in hoping a SEL follower can answer. I haven't heard anything suggesting Tommernes is unable to come over for any contractual reasons, can anyone confirm? If that's true, then it's pretty clear that the reason he hasn't come over yet has been entirely his choice. Which makes me wonder if he intends to play out his career in Sweden.

Haven't heard a lot of speculation, but i have heard some and had my suspicions as well. So you are not alone.
There was some drama over there when he was rumored to go to his hometown team, but then he signed an extension contract with Frolunda. I am not sure if it was google translate, but i read an interview/article and it didn't seem like the Canucks or NA was a major option when he signed the contract. I think he talked about really liking Frolunda a lot, would really like to stay there and very briefly mentioned talking to the Canucks, but that we were not in touch very often. That is my loose memory on the article.
But brightside is that his contract is only for one more year. If he extends, thats when i start worrying.
