Tvrdon with 2 assists, +2, 12 PIM (Cross check and misconduct at the end of the first) hit the crossbar on his shootout, Vancouver won in the shootout.

I heard from a Pete's fan that Quine could make his debut this weekend.

Obviously it will be interesting to see what he has in the tank after having the dreaded mono, but it will still be good to see him on the ice.

No points and -2 for Marchenko tonight but 16:26 icetime(#4 among CSKA's D) is great. They were up 3-0 after two periods but ended up losing 5-3, at home... He played 2nd most among their d-men in that 3rd period, despite all the goals against.

Bodin on the 4th line, no points/shots on goal/penalties.

Nice to see the coach is noticing his recent play and increasing his ice time.

David Musil traded from Vancouver to Edmonton today. Maybe this is a sign Vancouver knows how bad they really are. Hopefully Tvrdon follows shortly to a better team.

Or he's going to stay in a even worse team. Now they have basically NO ONE. Well that first line's been ok, I think.

Oh yeah, Oil Kings are stacked. Edmonton fans happy with Musil coming there, I guess.

Yeah the broadcast last night when they went to shootouts because it was the first of the year, just goes well of course Tvrdon goes first but then we will see. He is a one man show this year, really if he keeps going at over a point a game that is a good sign, don't expect a explosion in point production with what he is surrounded by with the Giants.

Ouellet with an assist, +1, no shots, 2 hits, oddly 2 faceoff wins. And 1st star. In a 2-1 win against saint john

So already better at faceoffs than Emmerton.

Indeed, he started tonight. Although his return doesn't seem to be doing anything for the Petes. That team still sucks.

Quine is probably in the same boat as Trvdon, as Red Wings fans it would be nice to see him dealt elsewhere.

Notable also that he only played 5,43. Though ice times weren't so high for other players either and Filppulas were eating a up a lot in that 2-3 shootout loss in Hämeenlinna:

V.Filppula 28,30
I.Filppula 20,54
J.Ruutu 19,52

J.Rita 9,12
J.Tyrväinen 7,44
T.Pulkkinen 5,43
Nichlas Hardt 9,24

Pulkkinen started the game on the second line with Ruutu and V. Filppula(and according to those who watched the game, didn't play badly in the first period) but was benched in the 3rd along with Hardt who got on the ice for the tying goal though. Jokerit also had to kill 9 penalties. The current distribution of icetimes isn't very healthy for the team in general.

Not sure if I like seeing Flip logging 25-30 minutes a night like that. Don't want to see him getting gassed out down the stretch if there winds up being a season.

James De Haas was chosen to the Team Canada West roster for the World Junior A Challenge. It starts today and ends next week Sunday (Nov 11).

You can watch it free on Fashockey, here are the instructions: http://www.hockeycanada.ca/index.php.../ss_id/170547/

Neither do Jokerit fans. He's already skipping out on the Euro Hockey Tour event next week because he wants to rest.

Nice to hear some good news about De Haas. Has anyone watched him play? Does anyone know much about his game?

I personally hold out no hope for an NHL season so it's good to see Val Filppula being given loads of minutes. I think he'll end up right behind Pavs as our 2nd best forward once the NHL gets their act together.

Ouellet. Backman. Marchenko.

Who makes it to the NHL first?

What kind of timetable you think these guys will need?

Here's a wild timetable guess. With NHL i mean on the roster and not just random call-ups

Ouellet
13-14 AHL
14-15 AHL
15-16 NHL possible

Bäckman
13-14 Sweden
14-15 AHL
15-16 AHL
16-17 NHL possible

Marchenko
13-14 AHL
14-15 Slight NHL chance, depending on UFA's etc.

These are probably optimistic, but I think the organisation might start to clog up with prospects if they don't begin bringing them in faster.

I would guess Backman because he's getting loads of mins in an elite league and is producing offense with little to no PP time. I can see him spending one more year in the SEL and then coming to Detroit. With Ouellet he will in all likelihood spend at least one year in Grand Rapids next year. The question is whether he'll be as good there as he's been in the Q. It's tough to say so that's why I'd give Backman the edge. As we've seen with Brendan Smith, once you get relegated to the A and the always under-performing Griffins it can be tough to work your way into the DRW lineup.

With Marchenko I'd put him dead last of the three due to his injury history and difficulty making his way into the lineup. His ice time is improving which is a great sign but he needs to be a bit more consistent and that's why I put him behind both Backman and Ouellet.

I think Ouellet simply based on the fact he is the best prospect. Age-wise they're close enough. Was nice to see that Backman played arguably the best hockey of his life on the small rinks last year though. Marchenko I think will grow to a good KHLer, maybe even National team guy before Detroit brings him over.

Marchenko who btw had a goal today and 14:06 TOI.

I think Ouellet is a one year AHL player. He just doesn't make a lot of mistakes and coaches love him. I know the Wings like to force guys down, I think he still comes up very quickly.

On Marchenko we are going have to hear how this new CBA impacts his decision. I hope he still wants to come but we will see. I do think having both Datsyuk and Fedorov around him this year has probably made him want to be a Wing that much more. As both articles about them show they still are hugely positive about the Wings.

As I said after reading scouting reports after the draft, when all is said and done, Marchenko is quite likely the best defensemen of the bunch. He's showing it right now in the best league in the world.
