I think Smith is clearly bigger than Ouellet, and he's also listed now at 6'2/204 which is more than XO. Still, Ouellet is by no means small.

That's exactly what I think every time I see him... He's still on the small side while on the ice with NHL players but he's clearly not as underpowered as he used to be. His skating is great and right where it needs to be for a small player that likes to hold on to the puck. Puck handling also very good but I guess everyone knows that already. Huge upside if he can work on his physique, imo.

Sonier at ESPN re: de Haas.

"At 6-4 with good mobility, that's all he needs to have a chance in the NHL. I liked how simple and sure his overall game was. He has grown two inches in the past year, so he will need time fill out and adjust to his size. He's also going the college route, so he will have plenty of time to develop -- and slow growth is never a problem in Detroit's deliberate pipeline."

Nah, Ouellet isn't small but he isn't big either. Maybe he's 6'1 but I don't trust any stats they have at Q site. They are basically always higher than what you see at draft combine.

So yeah he's not small, but I hope he would be little bigger. Would help as he's skating isnt top notch.. yet.

Everything I have heard about De Haas at this tournament has been positive. I haven't been able to see any games yet, but I will likely be watching tomorrow's gold medal game vs. the US. De Haas' defensive game will certainly be tested.

Frk 2+0 +1 today in a 5-4 loss for the Mooseheads, Drouin and Frk were the best players for Halifax today.

Frk has really picked it up lately, he plays the point on the powerplay and he has a rocket of a shot.

I didn't see the game today but yesterday he stepped into a slapper from the top on the circles and the announcers were saying hit shot is NHL ready right now.
The holy slapper is back!

Don't know if the game I saw today on the NHL network was a replay or not, I caught only the 3rd period, but Frk had an absolute rocket goal from the point on a slapshot. Definitely has legit power on his shot. Looked very good on the PP.

I cannot fault him much for he played for the entire tournament, he played mistake free hockey. His defensive game stood out more than his offensive game though as he left scoreless. No goals against and 56.5% at the dot, took a few penaltykilling shifts here and there and played PP regularly throughout the tournament. There was some real lowscoring hockey being played, 15 goals in 6 games.. A lot thanks to the goalies being guys like Rinne, Rask, Bobrovsky and Salak. Sweden had good NHLers Landeskog, Hornqvist, Hedman and neither recorded a point either.

^ True on Quine but seems like it's just the case of a really bad team. Koekkoek is a heavy minus player aswell.

Quine just came back from mono. I'd give him a break for a while. If the trend continues next year, I start to worry a bit.

Looks like the mono hasn't slowed down his goal scoring much.

I consider him a very skilled longshot. He is an excellent skater, and is a good playmaker. He's pretty small, not sure if he could be effective as a pro. I am pretty skeptical when it comes to prospects, but IMO Quine has real upside. His size and skill is comparable to Ryan Spooner who is generally thought to be a top bruins prospect. With Quine he doesn't get a lot of help, even last year he had to play second line because Austin Watson was the senior player, despite Quine being a better playmaker for Puempel. This year there's no top talents to pair with outside 17 year old Nick Ritchie.

Seems like Frk is on track now all of a sudden. He was putting up some points before but froma ll accounts wasnt that great. The last little while hes been on a tear though

I dont think Quines 2 way ability is a concern because of his plus minus. Hes supposed to be good defesnveily and has been used as a shut down guy internationally before.

I spoke to soon after last update when I said Mckee knows his role. That prorates to 837 pims over a full NHL season lol. I dont think we really need to worry about him losing his mean streak at college and I'm glad thats the way hes going so he can focus on hockey more. I still think hes actually an alright prospect to just become a huge 13th forward that will kill anyone. Better prospect then Bodin unlike some people voted this ummer
