On Tvrdon he already has a contract so I don't know if it even possible, but you have to wonder if an overage year wouldn't be best. I have no concerns about his physical build although the injury problems are troubling. It isn't like his frame cannot handle pro hockey. Ferraro has put his injury trouble behind him now that he is a pro, I guess we will hope for the same. I have always been high (I know too high) on Tvrdon but even I am extremely worried about what basically two whole seasons of lost development will mean in the long run. He has a long way to go in his two way game, the good news is his offense remained very strong after his last injury, he seems to have an exceptional feel for the game inside the other teams blueline. But he will need a lot more areas to improve to be the player I hope for.
Another year in the dub would do nothing for Tvrdon. He's already proved he can dominate that level, plus his frame is more than ready for pro hockey

I think the fact he already had a productive WHL season should be good enough credit to his game at that level. Surely he could be looking at the ECHL to start, but that should be better for him than juniors. A good way to learn the pro basics. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Nedomlel(and maybe Sproul) has a stint down there either, depending on how stacked up the blue line gets.

I want to see an Ouellet - Sproul pairing in GR next year.

Junior might be good option for Tvrdon, actually. IMO it's still better than ECHL. And Griffins are going to be so full next year.

I think another year of junior hockey is a really bad idea for Tvrdon.

I'll get season tix and jerseys and alternate wearing them if there is a Sproul-Oullet pairing next year.

I don't know if the ECHL is really that much better than if he we got him a trade to a big title contender. I am not sure one way or the other, I just think that is an option still at this point. I think afraid to do it, but we could also use Hakan's contacts overseas and maybe get a couple of these guys a loan situation for a year.

How come?

I think he's ready physically, and pros might be better for developing he's compete level and playing more complete game. But then we need to start loaning/trading kids.

Sheahan
Ferraro
Jurco
Tvrdon
Tatar
Andersson
Pulkkinen
Järnkrok

All of those may/probably start in AHL next year.

Who is supposed to be on the GR Roster for 13-14?

Jarnkrok? (Doubt it.)
Sheahan
Jurco
Pulkkinen?
Tvrdon?
Aubry
Ferraro
Quine?
Callahan
Parkes
Coetzee
Nestrasil
Frk?
Brunner?
Probably have to consider room for 2-3 veterans.

Sproul?
Ouellet?
Jensen?
Almqvist?
Marchenko?
Fournier
Nicastro
Nedomlel?
Billins?
Evans?

Mrazek

.
That would also assume he was willing to spend another year in junior. If I were him I'd probably rather go home to play in Slovakia for a year, maybe draw a paycheck for the first time instead.. It would be a loan situation, of course, since he's signed by the Wings.

I really hope Tatar doesn't. I am curious for those that don't think Jarnkrok is coming over, I ask why? If using an overage year or loaning Tvrdon overseas isn't an answer, what does Jarnkrok really get from another year in Sweden? He has won a championship and made a World Championship roster. His weight is getting closer, I think he needs to come to North America next year.

I do really think Pulkkinen could spend a month starting in the ECHL. He could crush that level and get some of his confidence back up. We are going have to find a way to build that back up.

I will say this if the Wings somehow land Lindholm while I wouldn't be happy about leaving Jarnkrok over there, it would make a little more sense.

Really not sure what will happen with Frk. I can see Pulkkinen coming over to get used to the smaller ice surface.

Andersson for sure will not be in GR. He'll either be in Detroit or get picked up off waivers. Tatar has one more year of waiver free time and you just know he's going to get sent down. Who knows with Sheahan but I can see him spending another season in GR along with Tatar.

I thought this season was Tatar's last year of exemption from waivers?

Quote:
Tatar, who has two years remaining on his contract, needed the Red Wings' permission. He also needed to be exempt from waivers, which he is for one more season. He will play for HK Dukla Trencin of the Slovak Extraliga.

Hmm... I guess you get a slide if you're under twenty?

^
^ What says Tvrdon would take a spot over Frk, anyway? Also I would hope Ferraro is more than ready to center that 2nd line. But that's semantics.

All in all though, healthy competition starting in the minors hopefully means that we will have good competition over the spots on the Red Wings aswell.

I get the feeling that at some point before next season we'll see 2 or 3 (or more) of those prospects moved for NHL vets. Bolster a declining team and clear up the pipeline a bit. It's hard to believe we might have 5 or 6 guys in the ECHL when I think we've never had more than 2 before this season.

It's not like I feel any real NHL upside from Coetzee, Raedeke, Parker, Nestrasil, Fournier. But only Raedeke is on his last year, so I don't know. But who was the last euro prospect to play in ECHL at 21(soon 22) and make the NHL, for example?

Looks like Frk is playing with Drouin and MacKinnon tonight. 1 period gone, Frk 1+1, Drouin 0+3, MacKinnon 0+2. I like.

Because he needs to face bigger, stronger, faster competition.
Playing against kids for another year will do nothing for him

If Andersson returns to GR at 24 years old ... why even bring him back?
Tatar should have a spot next year.

I doubt Andersson clears waivers, he will be somewhere in the NHL next season.

If they had no problem giving Emmerton an honest chance they'll have no problems giving Andersson one I'd say. I think he'll eclipse his scoring totals again this season. Not necessarily a top12 spot though, but likely as an extra forward giving him looks for a season. League minimum-ish.
