What the hell are YOU talking about? There is no question that Larsson was sheltered at points, and this is a good thing. Sure there were stretches where he led the Devils D in minutes, but in no way was he just thrown into the fire like Hedman was.

Funny never noticed it until later in the season because thats when any sheltering started when he began slowing down. He was thrown into the fire because when he lead the Devils defense in ice time, it was at the beginning of the season when he was playing amazingly.

Hedman has an better toolset but has quiet a bit lower IQ than Larsson so I would take Larsson.

I wouldn't say he was playing "amazing." He played remarkably well for an 18/19 year old defenseman, but he was nowhere near just "thrown into the fire." He played big minutes early on in the season, but you cannot deny that he was sheltered, save for the handful of games he lead Devils D in TOI. He showed flashes of absolute brilliance and I expect him to continue to develop into the Norris-contending defenseman that us Devils fans hope he will; however, Hedman's situation was a lot different than Larsson, and Hedman was not able to be as sheltered as Larsson was in his first season. I still take Larsson here though
