When he finds the strike zone, they're pounding him.

Well, that's probably all she wrote for game 1. Don't see the Tigers getting 5 runs on the road, against Zito. Luckily, we'll face Bumgarner tomorrow, and he's been struggling. Hopefully Fister is on. I'll be perfectly satisfied with a split in SF.

It's 99.999% over. Looks like JV saved his normal playoff performances for the WS. Oh well atleast he helped them get to the WS.

Expecting the Tigers offense to no show.

Hooray........regular season Delmon is back.

Kind of fitting that Verlander saves a crap outing for the World Series game one. Good news is that the rotation behind Verlander is solid as well, bad news is that it doesn't matter if the Tigers bats stay silent.

Would it count as a choke if the Tigers lose the series having the best pitcher and the best batsman?

Nah. Not unless multiple players implode throughout the series. More people picked the Tigers than the Giants to win the WS it seems, but the Tigers are in no way runaway favorites, so simply losing does not necessarily mean that it was a choke.

Verlander getting hit by Zito. Yikes. If that's not a sign that a game 1 win is not meant to be, I don't know what is.

Tigers used all of their good defensive plays against the Yankees.

Gotta pull JV. He doesnt have it tonight. Hopefully the Tigers can survive until JV's next start.

I really thought the Tigers were gonna show up this game. It's scary how similar 2012 game one looks like 2006 game one.

Well atleast Delmon Young will be gone next year. I want Leyland gone too, but beggars cant be choosy. Never cared for his old school approach.

I guess the Tigers should have played more simulated games................

Martinez should be back next year and the offense should be better. Hopefully the pitching doesnt vanish.

Strange how a series can already feel over before the 1st game is officially over.

JV either gives up 0-1 run or 6-7... it would be nice if the best pitcher in baseball could at least have a decent ga 1 of the WS.

If the Tigers dont score a single run does it really matter?

JV sucked tonight, but the Tigers offense has been nonexistent for almost the entire postseason.

Insane pitching is what got them here. I am not even mad at JV.

Bruce Bochy wants Delmon in the field. He is starting his left handers to get him there and then even left Zito in to face him to keep him in the game instead of Berry or Dirks. That should speak volumes about what he thinks of him in left field.
