Whatever hiring of a guy who can be alright at times. Definitely not a Morris style of guy but whatever. Give him a try anyways.
Not a fan as a coach? Since this is his first gig, I'm interested in knowing why you don't seem at least ok about this hiring. I know jack about him as a person, but he seemed to be a hardworker on the ice and carved out a decent career despite not having been blessed with much overall abilities.
HEEEEEEEEE AAAAAAND Randy, Randy Jones randy jones randy jones now, they had a thing, goin on.
I just burst out laughing as I sang that. Poor Freddy.
I know you guys suffered through Randy Jones as much as we did (by the way, has anyone ever referred to Randy Jones by anything but both names? I don't think I've ever called him Jones; always Randy Jones or Randy @#$%& Jones)

He was always Randy Jones you ******* turnover machine.

Some referred to him as Rany Jones because he had no D...
I'm a Kings fan but I live in Boston. I watch a bunch of Bruins games because it's so accessible. I've always been a big fan of Bergeron. Just a solid 200 ft player that puts up points. I know I will get ridiculed for this but if I could have one player in the entire league and put him on the Kings, taking into account everything (contract, cap implications, where he would fit on the Kings, style of play, etc.), I would take Bergeron.
So with all that said ...
I always referred to him as Randy "that SOB that hurt Bergeron" Jones.
I hated him long before he got to the Kings.
But I loved him when he over committed to Smyth then lackadaisically stick checks Williams which leads to an absolutely sick Williams goal two seasons ago! Which incidentally was against Mike Smith who I absolutely hate now ... I'm so glad this thread made me remember that play ... so much more satisfying now!

To me it is an issue of character, reputation and work ethic. Not that I mean to bad mouth him or call him weak, just my past experiences make me wonder if he is up to our level of compete/dedication.
He like all people can grow and develop their skills but from what I have known of FM I haven't been impressed enough to think more than meh as far as hiring him to our developmental staff. If you watched his style of play I am left questioning what he will be adding to our group.
Like I said though, meh, I guess that means whatever or o.k. Not of eh same level of character as the rest but then maybe he has grown and I am not one to really question the brain trust too much.
Hope he works out but I don't see him as a potential future head coach of the Kings and those are the guys I would like to see us searching out for these sort of positions.

Now Randy Jones is just a bad memory for both of us.
Now its "Randy Jones he misused him, tripped him up and abused him another d-mans plan, sucking bad till he ran out of smoke but Freddy's on the corner now"........

Watching that clip, I think Jones is somehow the only guy on Tampa that doesn't make a terrible play... I mean Roy just makes a god awful pass to lead to the turnover. Whoever 44 is makes a half-hearted attempt to take the puck from Smyth. Hall who just finished a check on Williams b-lines straight for Smyth, who is already being covered by Jones, and leaves Williams wide open for the pass and essentially turns the play into a 2-1, with Jones playing it as having 2 men back. Then Smith just completely bites on the Spin-o-rama and ends up with his jock in the corner...

he was pretty well liked when he was in Philly. He knew what he was and accepted it.
It was going to be tough to replace Pellerin and what he meant to the organization's younger players.
Meyer is from the area(Sanbornville)
Oh wow, okay you guys win. Or lose. That's brutal.
Either way, you endured Shelley, yikes! I didn't mean to dismiss what you have suffered, but I have to admit I would rather have Jones or Modry over Corvo. His toughest moment was kicking a girl at a bar.
