The "Who goes where?" game

Here is how this works.

List where you think each player goes. Just the league, no need to list teams.

Spezza - SM-liiga
Alfy - SEL
Michalek - Czech Liga
Latendresse - SM-liiga
Neil - GET-ligaen
Zibanejad - AHL
Silfverberg - SEL
Turris - AHL
Greening - AHL
Regin - AL-Bank Ligaen
Smith - AHL
O'brien - AHL
Daugavins - AHL
Condra - AHL

Karlsson - SEL
Gonchar - KHL
Phillips - Doesn't play
Methot - SM-liiga
Cowen - AHL
Lundin - I don't know..the moon

Anderson - Slovak Extraliga
Bishop - AHL

Just random guesses.

Any Ottawa player going to the SEL would be writing off the entire 2012/2013 season, so I don't see that happening unless the season is for sure cancelled.

I agree with most of them except Spezza, for some reason I just don't see Finland. Don't ask me why.

Lundin to the Swiss League.

Don't they just sign week to week contracts like Malkin is doing with the KHL?

Nope SEL decided that they would not sign any player who wouldn't commit for the full year this time around.

Oi! I figured I'd just chime in to help the guessing process since that fact removes a lot of options.

Week to week contracts won't be an issue, the NHL won't be playing in 2012-13.

This is too depressing to think about

What's the rule on players going to the AHL during a lockout? Can any of our guys go? I mean, obviously not all of them will, but are there certain players who would not be able to report to the AHL?

Are you saying Alfie and Philly are going to stay in Ottawa?

Silfverberg is paying for Binghamton. End of story. There is no other alternative.

also, what is it you don't understand about Sweden not allowing NHL players to sign short term deals? None of our guys will be playing in Sweden unless they want to play in the Allsvenskan.

guys like Turris etc. wouldn't be in the AHL.

I wouldn't at all be surprised to see half the Swedish Senators all go to the same Swedish team... By that I mean, Alfie, EK, Zbad, Silf etc.

But other than that? It's hard to speculate, what with the Allsvenkan being so anal...

I think you mean Zibanejad is playing for Bingo no matter what. I am sure Silfverberg would be welcomed back by his team. He may not be the captain, but they are not going to shun their former mvp/captain.

Who said anything of Brynas shunning him? Ottawa is putting him in Binghamton. It's as simple as that. He is playing nowhere else this season except for Binghamton, NY or Ottawa, ON. Ottawa would not loan him to Sweden, it would just be a waste of time.

you should be surprised, since it's pretty much impossible. Zibanejad and Silfverberg are AHLers if there is a lockout.

there is no way Silfverberg goes back to sweden. the guy needs to play on NA ice. going back to sweden would just be awful for his development.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe it's only for players with 2-way contracts.

Two way contracts don't have anything to do with this. That just determines if the player will get paid less by playing in the AHL.

Pretty sure any player can play in the AHL. Including 18-19 year old players who played in the CHL (RNH).

It has to do with waivers. If the player has to clear waivers, they will not be playing in the AHL.

All our guys on ELC's won't have to clear waivers.

18-19 year olds still can't play in the AHL even though the agreement expired. They still have a gentleman's agreement according to Jeff Marek.

Pretty sure there's no waivers if there's no CBA. Would guys like Turris on one-way even get paid their NHL salaries if they played in the AHL? No clue
