Smith being young and Goc relatively old is the only good reason not to make that trade. Right now, Goc >>> Smith

He's a lot more than just points. Plus he didn't even play a full season. Don't talk when you don't even watch him play.

We quite obviously just committed the #2 spot to turris. regin, da Costa, and zibanejad are there for top six depth, and Smith and O'Brien can handle the bottom six spots.

If we find we need a bit more bottom six depth, a free agent or waiver wire pickup seems more prudent.

Not to mention our prospect pool.

OP's offer is Burtal.

I say this as a Sens fan in a thread started by a Sens fan (I think): I think you should need a license to be allowed to stray from your own home board sometimes...

Apparently that was the point, to get other HFers to prove Goc would be an improvement to your lineup.

Goc is pointless to acquire with Turris and Smith already holding down the 2nd and 3rd line spots.

I'd love to acquire Goc.
Puempel + O'Brien for Goc + 3rd is what I'd do. Puempel is worth an early 2nd and O'Brien maybe a mid-late 2nd. Goc is probably worth a late 1st.

I don't think he should've left in the first place. Only thing I wont miss from Foligno anymore are his goalie interference penalties

Whats Puempel's projected status when he comes to the NHL? 2nd liner?

If we were to package Goc, it would have to be for a better center. It's not too bad of value, but not what the Panthers are looking for.

I get that, although a team needing centre depth isn't likely to trade a better centre for Goc, so it seems unlikely he'll be moved.

Although I would love it if Goc came back in a package for Luongo.

Yeah, if we packaged Goc up with a first and someone else I'm sure we could fetch a 2nd line center. I can also see Goc being part of a Luongo deal, but who knows.

Defense and top line wingers are what we need ,not bottom 6 centers

I'd loooove to trade for Goc. Ever since Malhotra got his eye injury we've really missed having a solid shutdown 3rd line center like him.

I think most realistic Sens fans would say his upside is 2nd line winger. He's got great hands, but isn't exactly a gazelle on Red Bull on skates, so unlikely to become a first liner, but I could see him scoring 20 - 25 goals regularly on the second line if he pans out.

Wouldn't mind having Goc with Ottawa. He'd be a good guy for the bottom 6.

You think Puempel's value has went down that much?

Why the heck would the Ottawa Senators need Marcel Goc? Really though...Zack Smith, Jim O'Brien, Colin Greening, Erik Condra, Chris Neil, Peter Regin, Kaspars Daugavins. There's 7 players to fit six spots in the bottom six. We have zero use for Goc.

Thanks, but not at all needed. Next.
