Round of 32 (rd. 3): "Best NA Pro Prospect" - 3. Gustav Nyquist vs. 42. Andrew Shaw

Round 3, down to 32..

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 50 AHL + NHL games played (20 AHL + NHL games played for Gs); Maximum of 100 NHL games played (30 NHL games played for Gs); 26 years old or younger by 12/31/12; Signed to play in North America next season; Can't have played more than 50 NHL games in 11/12 NHL season, injured players exempt (ie. Mike Sauer, Jacob Josefson, etc.)

This 3rd round match-up pits Central Division foes Gustav Nyquist against Andrew Shaw. The older and very ripe Gustav Nyquist looks to be set for a steady NHL place next season, and be given a greater chance to spread his wings with his slick puckhandling. The more 'meat and potatoes' Andrew Shaw was able to parlay his early season AHL play into an NHL contract and a regular spot in the Hawks roster by season's end.

3. Gustav Nyquist (DET)

Round 2: def. 96. Kevin Connauton - 68%
Round 1: def. 126. Mark Borowiecki - 84%

42. Andrew Shaw (CHI)

Round 2: def 26. Dustin Jeffrey - 71%
Round 1: def 87. Evgeny Grachev - 85%

Nyquist has more potential imo, shaw looked good in the time he played last season in the NHL. Nyquist didn't get much playing time when he was called up and was mostly plugged into the bottom six, which doesn't really work with his skillset.

Send a message via Yahoo to Pajicz
Right now: Shaw
Upside/future: Nyquist

Voted Shaw for upset, but Nyquist will probably be better than him in year or two.
