Datsyuk-like Players

What do you think, who is most datsyuk type of player? Im not saying there will be players who are as amazing as datsyuk, but who plays most like datsyuk?

Pavel Datsyuk is the only "Datsyuk-like" player. No one plays like him.

They are out there. I'd say Nugent-Hopkins shares some of Datsyuk's playmaking ability. Joe Thornton comes to mind as also extremely shifty and creative. I've heard a Detroit prospect Jurco idolizes Datsyuk and has some similarities in style.

Nugent-Hopkons comparable was Datsyuk when drafted. Kids got crazy vision and one-on-one, and playmaking skills

kings forward prospect loktionov is really good a stripping the puck away like datsyuk.

but i dont think anyone plays like him, his creativity is on another level. reminds me of the way zinadine zidane played

TJ Oshie given time.

Sick Dekes- check
2 way stud- check

Once Oshie gets some 80 pt seasons under his belt and a few Selkes, then the comparison will seem more realistic.

Giroux has some datsyuk traits when it comes to playing with the puck

Im gonna sound like a homer but it's Datsyuk "like"

Bergerons two way games somewhat comparable seeing as how he just won the Selke and I would say Krejci is kinda Datsyuk lite lite because he is good defensively and is very crafty.

Non homer picks would be the obvious ones
Toews- hands and 2-way game
M. Richards because of 2-way game and offense
Kesler if he can return to form even though I hate him.
Backes has the 2-way game but is more physical where as Datsyuk is crafty and deceptive
Kopitar recently is a good comparison
I'll give Jordan Staal a year with the Hurricanes before I compare him to Pavel but he is very good defensively and on the pk.
Maybe Pavelski

Bergeron is probably as close as it gets but he doesn't have nearly the one-on-one skill that Datsyuk has. There really isn't another player at his level in the league. The combination of offense and defense along with unreal hands is unmatched even by the elite guys like Crosby.

As a Blues fan, nope. In style, on the Blues, Perron is way closer. Datsyuk has a much more refined game, especially his overall checking game, but Perron is great at pick-pocketing people in the neutral zone and has amazing stickhandling, just to begin the list. Oshie has a more straight-ahead game and, despite having killer shootout moves and great hands, doesn't have the speed and shiftiness that Datsyuk and Perron use to control the pace of the play.

Claude Giroux . He even steals his shootout moves. Seriously though Giroux is really shifty, just like Datsyuk.

BTW i consider Datsyuk the Barry Sanders of the NHL.

Exactly, even at his age, Datsyuk still plays at a level that nobody right now does. 3 zone excellence and the ability to put his team on his back and win it singlehandedly.

If he could stay healthy, Toews might be a guy with that capability but he isn`t there yet

none of these players are really similar other than being 2 way players

ehh, not really. He plays a different style of two way play, more aggressive than Datsyuk. Kind of a whole different type of game but I can understand the comparison.

Nyquist has some Datsyuk-esque qualities. That said there are not any players that I know of that really comes close to his style

I'm heavily biased because I'm a Wings fan and Datsyuk is my all-time favorite player but I haven't seen anyone play like him.

I'd have to say Giroux, I've even seen quite a few analysts comment on how he's "Datsyuk lite".

I don't think anyone bases their game on the same things as Datsyuk. There are a lot of excellent playmakers who are skilled, creative, physical, have good 2-way game. Some players fit this description, but are they similar to Datsyuk? No. He's different.
