Would you want Keilback to call the CBC games?

How do we start an online petition to get Keilback calling the CBC games? I could start it, or I'd be totally on board to sign it if someone else starts it.

Is there a preferred petition site, what was the one the guy used to push for the team name "Jets"?

And then we fire it off to the CBC, granted, if we get the support. The question is: in your opinion, do you think there would be support? Is it too late? Does Keilback want to do it?

I'm in. I grew up listening to Keilback and I and a lot of Winnipeggers associate the Jets to him, in fact when I learned that the Jets were returning I thought it was a no brainer that he would be calling the games. To my surprise he was virtually shut out of the process. I hope he gets to call the games again.

Quit trying to live in 1995.

I thought Beyak did a fantastic job doing play by play last year.

I didn't. I found him nasal and irritating. Every time he said "it's in the blue paint!" or "tight turns!" I died a little inside.

That being said I agree about 1995. Although it would be fun to hear him call "Kane the WRAPAROUND... back... Buff...... Wheel... uhhhh THEY SCORE".

Besides, I think the OP is talking about replacing the slugs that call the Jets CBC games, not Beyak on TSN Jets.

While the nostalgia value would be there, the quality of the pbp would be a step down from Beyak. Keilback was pretty hard to follow during a scoring play.

Funny you should say that. At times last year I found Beyak to be a step behind what was going on on the ice as well. Perhaps Casey and Finnegan kept him up late the night before.

Munzie's our best pbp guy though, by far.

He gets excited at the right times, has enough homerism to make it fun to listen to.

Many forget that Keilback was no longer the voice of the Jets having been dumped by the host broadcaster CJOB a couple years before the Jets moved to the desert. Kelly Moore in my opinion was as good or better than Keilback. Listening to Keilback call a few games for the Buffalo Sabres a few years back made me realize that Keilback could no longer follow the play. Time to move on folks, Keilback was done in the 90's.

Sorry but Munzie's voice is best suited for junior hockey, sure he follows the play and is excited at the right times and for the right reasons but listening to him you get the sense that he is covering a WHL game.

This thread is about CBC games. Beyak works for TSN, not CBC.

I was just going to say... he's not talking about TSN. Don't you all remember the CBC games last year with the terrible 4th string commentating?

Canucks fans are quite used to hearing Rick Ball. He is the BC Lions' primary play-by-play announcer, and became the Canucks' secondary radio announcer a few years ago. He also hosted a long-time radio show in Vancouver prior to becoming a full-time multi-sport play-by-play announcer.

If anything, he should be the second-string announcer, only behind Jim Hughson. Canucks fans would much rather have him than Mark Lee. You guys are fortunate to have Rick. He's a veteran announcer who probably would already have a full-time TV position if not for his BC Lions role. He had to balance the whole Lions schedule, 57 regular season Canucks games, and several Jets games last year. As for Keilback, I wouldn't mind him replacing Dennis Beyak.

Well, taking the time to actually read what the OP said

I would take Kielback over CBC`s clowns 10 times out of 10 ainec.

Hughson = Canucks Homer
Mark Lee = c'mon
Cole = still like the guy but he is just too old

CBC has some decent color guys but PBP has been decimated.

Dick Irvin Jr. - Awesome and gone
Bob Cole - Awesome but old
Chris Cuthbert - Awesome gone to TSN
Don Whittman - RIP

I like what TSN is doing. I still think that Kielback has a classic sound and a great voice. Not at all living in the past, it's about someone with great pipes that can send the feeling of the game through the airwaves. Kielback did and can still do that.

Him calling CBC Jets games could be cool, but I'm not particularly fussed about him being on vs anyone else. As long as they improve the production that's all I want.

Moore's pbp is like listening to paint dry.

Beyak is alright.

Keilback would be miles better than the 12th-string CBC crew they like to send out here.

I want CBC to show games in High Definition rather than Standard Definition.

Keilback calling the games would be a bonus!

CBC is probably stuck in their ways, and won't hire Keilback.

I could still start a petition. I have some spare time here and there.

Anyone remember what petition site the guy used to push for the name Jets?

I'm indifferent to Keilback calling the games. He was fun to listen to in the 80-90's but I don't really care if he calls another Jets game or not.

I do feel that the CBC crew they use to call the Jets games last year needs an upgrade, they were not good at all. But there was a few games called by Bob Cole and even though he's getting old, I have no problems listening to him call a game. To me, he has a great voice to call the game.

Hmm... I have a better idea, how about we get Morgan Freeman to call the Jets games?

Bob Cole has a great voice, but he doesn't know what's happening on the ice half the time. He's really just too old to keep up now...he's 79! At least Morgan Freeman is 4 years younger...
