European free agents?

Are there any players from across the pond drawing interest who are beyond their draft eligibility? I assume most of the interest is in goalies.

Viktor Fasth had a lot of interest last season http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=5147

Had the best numbers in the SEL last season, and has improved on them this season.

I'm not sure if he's FA but I would add Július Hudáček. He is flying under the radar but he's a great goalie nonetheless. When you mentioned Fasth he was in talks with AIK to be his backup, he chose Södertälje SK instead, but he might end up in AIK after all.

Damien Brunner of the NLA in Switzerland. Had 60 points in 45 games according to eliteprospects.com. Still young at 25, has some sick highlights too.

Tomáš Záborský:

- Leads SM-liiga (FEL) in goals and points
- Drafted in 2006, 5th round 157th overall
- Traded to Anaheim for Matt McCue on July 19, 2010
- 6 feet 180 pounds

I'm not sure if he's a FA, if not, Anaheim has his rights.

I personally don't think he'd succeed but Nicklas Danielsson has garnered some interest. No idea if Vancouver still has his rights? He actually turned down the ELC offer from them once upon a time.

Viktor Fasth could no doubt go in and be a good NHL backup somewhere, but he wants a one-way deal. Close to league minimum would probably get it done though.

'03 draftee, no, they don't. Another one with expired rights is goalie Joacim Eriksson.

Broc Little who plays for Västerĺs in Allsvenskan must be one of the best players playing in Sweden right now, his skill-level is insane, such a joy to watch. He is probably too small for any NHL-team to be interested though.

After seeing Emelin and Diaz having some success crossing the ocean, I wouldn't be surprised to see the habs going again after some free agents.

They don't.

There is likely interest, but I don't know will a team bite him having a shoulder-injury and the surgery after his season here.

Brunner will get a contract for sure, seems that he already has offers.

Switzerland has some interesting goalies also, Reto Berra and Leonardo Genoni, both not too old yet and with a great season. Both also played for Davos (Genoni is still there) like Jonas Hiller.

For Sweden, the players that have been generating interest this year is Fasth (again), SEL scoring leader Robert Rosén, and to some extent Richard Gynge and Nicklas Danielsson.

Don't know about Joacim Eriksson but you gotta believe that someone is gonna try to make the Flyers pay for their mistake to let him go.

Would be very surprised if Fasth wouldn't agree to an NHL contract this time around.

and there is Alexander Radulov. There are strong rumors he will come back to NHL.
in the trade deadline was a rumour by Kosticin, that he was traded for the rights to Radulov...

really? He's playing Allsvenskan for gods sake. He's just too overhyped by some fans.

Not saying his not somewhat overhyped, but Allsvenskan has lots of promising players. Another goalie who is mentioned in this thread Viktor Fasth had been playing Allsvenskan at an older age than Hudáček and at Hudáček´s age he was still playing Division I hockey. I expect to see Hudáček in SEL orother European league next year though. Also HC Košice is a factor why he is playing Allsvenskan this year.

After that video, I´d say he looks like a typical Detroit signing?

A beat reporter for his team tweeted the pens were early favorites a few months ago. Hiyo!

Would be great scoring depth for us, especially at right wing. His game would seem to translate better than most as well.

I am not sure if he is still draft eligible or not (I can never get those rules straight) but David Wolf may garner some interest.

There are supposed to be some reports, that Winnipeg, Los Angeles and Toronto might be interested. I have no idea if there is any truth to it, but his season has been pretty impressive.

Berra is drafted (i think st. louis) and genoni is on the smaller side, but wouldn't be bad

Eriksson, yep. Also a D-man who hasn't been mentioned here, played for Team Sweden this campaign!

Nothing for a NHL-club I assume, skilled but a bit slow and not that big and strong. Good PP-player, playmaker that can score. Not the most visible player, but very often in the middle of stuff when a goalis scored for AIK. Rumoured to be bad defensively, but the guy is third in +/- this season on a team that is in the bottom half of SEL, so I guess thats not true anymore.

I don't think he ever would have a chance at NHL. He has developed though, if he puts up yet another great season in Europe (SEL or KHL) he might be worth a shot and prove me wrong.

And what do you think about Roman Cervenka from KHL? Will he go to NHL?
