Slava Truhno's Danish citizenship application status??

I was wondering if anyone had any update on Slava Truhno's citizenship application for Denmark.

I understand that his father moved the family to Denmark when Slava was young (so he is Russian born), but due to the fact that his father continued to take the family back to Russia in the summer months, the citizenship issue is not as clear-cut because he has not spent a certain amount of consecutive time in Denmark.

I hope that he does get his Danish citizenship, both from the point of view of increasing Denmark's profile as a hockey nation, and more importantly, since Slava is mostly a product of the Danish youth hockey programs, he should be giving back by being allowed to play for Denmark.

it takes a long time to get danish citizenship because of our government is pretty though when it comes to this .

it sutainly does not make things easier that he is playing in canada now, but he has lived here for such a long time, and that might help him.

but things are being handled in the government as far as i know...

The thing is, Slava always went home in the summers, with his dad. So he hasn't spent enough CONSECUTIVE time here. I do hope they bend the principles, just this once, though.

Slava Truhno has been invited to play for Russia at the U18 World Championships, so he seems to be lost for Denmark.

Read more about here

I believe the IIHF has changed the rules so that a player can play for a different national team later on in their life if they meet certain rules.

Hopefully he gets his Citizenship anyways in the hope he can play for the Men's team.

You serious?
Wasn't Kipketer or whatever his name was running in Danish colours after like 2 weeks?

That was a couple of years ago. Now the Danish government have applied more strict standards although probably not as strict as Finland.

Things has changed in Denmark, as in most parts of the 'rich world'
