Kroppy Salute as a part of our anthem?

Last night's tribute to Kroppy was very touching. One thing I was hoping for was a pic of Kroppy saluting the crowd on the big screens during the canadian national anthem.

We are a great fan base and we tend to find moments to pay respect to ourselves, others, the team and the league in various ways. Whether it be a picture of the queen, or shouting True North.

I think it might be a nice touch to have a picture of Kroppy saluting the crowd shown on the jumbo tron during O'Canada.

thoughts?

There was a montage featuring Kroppy throughout the anthem. If memory serves the last photo was of Kroppy saluting.

Ah, not something I was able to witness much of while watching from home...so thats good to hear.

But I'm referring to a permanent addition to our anthem for home games.

Considering they had a pretty substantial tribute for him, I would imagine they are going to something along those lines.

They put him on the jumbotron for every game when he was there. May as well keep it going. a nice tribute.

Would be fine with that. An image of him at the end of the anthem every time would be awesome.

His salute at the end of the anthem was very touching.

I feel like adding that permanently would be really great but I am also a little apprehensive about it for some reason.

Ya thats why I was looking for opinions on the idea. Is it a right move to basically immortalize a member of the crowd or not?

He's already in the hearts and minds of so many members of our city however.

There is something about it which feels almost exploitative. It makes his image and memory a little bit like a prop. It can be done, but for me its a tough line to walk. I think the hesitation above is for similar reasons.

Same feeling. Honestly I'd be okay without having him on the Jumbotron each anthem - it doesn't dilute his memory. I wouldn't mind an annual Remembrance Day picture during the anthem as an ongoing tribute.

If they put a plaque or changed the decor of his seat, I think that would be a more appropriate dedication there every day (something subtle, not flashy on the Jumbotron). I do like the idea that his seat is donated to veterans (assuming his family doesn't keep the ticket, which I think they are at least based on last night).

He was so often zoomed in on during the anthems. With him no longer being in attendance, is showcasing a picture much different than zooming in on him I guess would be the question.

I think the answer is unequivocally yes, it is different.
Whether it is good/bad or acceptable/unacceptable is another question.

This seems like a good idea/compromise

I would be fine with showing his image after every "oh Canada" but that must be something that TNSE MUST discuss with his family and receive approval from.

I don't think modifying his seat holds any merit in my opinion. A plaque and his image on the jumbtron should suffice.

If Philly can have their anthem singer sing along with a recording of an older female singer, I think we could show Kroppy at the end of ours.

I agree.
I think that, at most, they could make use of his image during remembrance day opening.

I may not be the best to comment on this though because I think anthems during pro sporting events is ridiculous.
I don't have to sit through anthems before a movie, why a sporting event?

glad i'm not the only one

I too think it would be a little, I don't know the right word but weird, to have him up there every night. I thought the tribute last night was well done, and in good taste, and I think should be left at that.

Does anyone know if they did a Kroppy salute at the end of the anthem during the Bruins game? Just out of curiosity

Line ups were much slower than normal to clear security so I didn't make it to my seat for puck drop.

How about offering his seat to a member (active, retired) of the armed forces for this season.

Well, I think that would be up to his family who is paying for the seat (and/or wanting to attend the games), no?
