Ye it isnt the first time the president of a major sports organization has called out Steve Simmons at a press conference in that building.

If Lesnar was not the sport's leading PPV draw in his tenure, is all the reporting on the subject wrong? Someone please ask @danawhite.

Jonathan Snowden ‏@mmaencyclopedia
Just read the piece in the Toronto Sun. It's similar to analysis you find frequently on most MMA sites. Not sure why singled out like that.

Yes.. seriously.. I read the article Dana is talking about. Simmons is a ****ing idiot when he talks hockey. Imagine that when he has no idea what he's talking about. The guy is a pure *******.

The top 4-5 HWs would destroy Bones.

I really don't see the issue with the article.

Am I the only one who didn't think the article was out of line? The 4 mega-events a year thing makes perfect sense.

Then we disagree. I don't feel like looking it up again but his negative rip-it-down BS doesn't fly with me at all.

Haven't read the article. Usually try to avoid anything written by Simmons. I'm not a fan of his and I just thought it was funny how of all people Dana could call out and be pissed at, it's Simmons.

Most of his points in his article are discussions we've had on this board quite a bit.

Such as? Should we be hammering nails in the coffin of the UFC because they're going through a rough patch?

They are going through a rough patch. Other than UFC 148, the PPV buys have been stagnant/low and TV ratings are down. Injuries are big part of it and having your biggest PPV draw leave hurts quite a bit. It's just a rough patch, that's all.

I guess my point is that a guy like Simmons will jump all over something like this (a rough patch) despite the fact he has no idea what he's talking about because he's a ****** hockey reporter and doesn't have a clue about MMA. Anyway, I'm clearly biased and I prefer not to argue online because it goes nowhere. Let's just leave it at that.

I know you love Brock Lesnar but injuries to top stars like Anderson and GSP as well as Diaz and Overeem's suspensions hurt the UFC more than Lesnar leaving. He fought once a year. He also got embarrassed by both Overeem and Cain in his last two fights. He was barely ahead of GSP for PPV buys when he was on top and I really doubt he would have been the biggest PPV draw right now if he kept fighting.

That wasn't a broken arm but damn close. Kinda like when GSP had Dan Hardy in that kimura and he wouldn't tap. Good effort from Belfort but Jones' reach, takedowns and elbows from on top were just too much to deal with.

I loved seeing Bisping translating to Belfort what "Jugger-not" meant as Dana White was talking about the article.

I don't see the big deal a bout that article. It's not necessarily a good one, but it's not exactly noteworthy in any way.

I've got no problems with the article. Its a bit dramatic and has an "anti-UFC" tone to it, but the actual facts in their are fine. On Dana's side, you can see why he would be pissed about this article coming out as he's trying to do promotion all week.

Jon Jones is a monster at 205. Although whoever made the point earlier about how if that was Mir or Werdum that arm would have been ripped off. Will be interesting what happens if/when he moves up to HW. Hard to believe he's just 25 considering how he has decimated the 205 division.

I had a brain fart last night for not including GSP, Silva, and Overeem. Diaz to an extent as well. The UFC as a whole has been missing GSP badly..

Jones' crabwalk at the start of fights is getting extremely tedious. I was glad to see Vitor take a kick at his head and even happier to see Big John scold Jones for "playing the game".

Im guessing 235 to 245. His upper body is that of a heavyweight but his legs are still so damn skinny
