5 on Waivers in Anticipation of Lockout

Per Bob McKenzie via Twitter, the Dallas Stars have waived: Sceviour, Fortunus, Petersen, Morin, Sloan, Wathier.

Only players on two-way contracts can play in the AHL, and the waiver rules still apply. That is why these guys had to be placed on waivers.

This could be a blessing honestly for Sceviour. I don't think there's any chance a team will make a claim on players at this point, but had this occurred during the season I could see Dallas potentially losing Sceviour like they lost Crombeen.

Texas' roster looks to have these players in the mix:

Forwards (14): Chiasson, Eakin, Fraser, Gazdic, Glennie, Morin, Petersen, Roussel, Sceviour, A. Smith, R. Smith, Tousignant, Vincour, Wathier

Defense (6): Jordie Benn, Dillon, Fortunus, Nemeth, Oleksiak, Sloan

Goal (2): Campbell, Nihlstorp

I italicized Roussel and Tousignant because I'm guessing Dallas would prefer they actually play in the ECHL rather than sit in the pressbox. That's also why I left off Labrie and Coyle. I assume Texas will stick with the AHL/ECHL guy they signed to be the 7th defender. Labrie and Coyle will likely get prime time in Idaho.

I'm going to look like an idiot asking this, but who on earth is Sloan?

Clearly been way out of the loops this summer.

Ex-Capitals Whipping Boy Tyler Sloan.

And oddly I found that Labrie was pretty decent at camp.
