If he keeps this up, it would be a crime not to take him to WJC. Could Russia have a superstar Defenseman lining up? Finally?! I hope so!
Khl.ru has him at 6'2" Not sure how is he a coming superstar, it's very hard to predict anything for the D-men, and he's a stay-at-home, right? I think he goes to the MHL as 4 full-time defenseman recover. Still very interesting to see a 18 yo defenseman in the KHL.

True, but they could've gone with older VHLers, but the fact that a '94 is getting time and looking good is still impressive.

Sorry, you're right 6'2''. Looks good to me considering his age.

Also it's Ufa, not UFA. They aren't an unrestricted free agent.

And Zinovyev's hat trick is nice, but his production is still way down last few years.

Ovechkin got an assist as well. Not really an assist - his shot was rebound.
Minsk surrendered.

I got old that the Dynamo Moscow game today was nowhere near sold out?

70% capacity. It'll start selling out once people truly realize Ovi is there.

They are just so lucky(in a good way). Today was supposed to be their first real KHL game against a formidable team and Avangard has to ice half the junior team against them. Lev will need the points they get now. Attendence is great considering the arena.

I wouldn't bet on that. Moscow is the shame of the league with the attendence. They are so full of themselves in Moscow they don't even notice an Ovechkin.

He never asked for the captaincy. And the whole loyalty thing is BS. He's a professional. I mean he could go and play for Tver now just because he's so loyal...

Money is a good thing. Still it's Donetsk, Ukraine. Hardly a hockeytown. Not many top talented players would go there to a new team unless they have some bonds. As you can see the ukrainian NHLers were signed right away. In the offseason it wasn't even clear for a time if they get their KHL entry. Tough situation for a GM to sign top talent even with piles of gold.

Yet somehow they managed to sign guys like Kaspar, Kiiskinen, Pettersson, Tuppurainen and so on.

Btw, just wondering, why do you write 4 posts in a row?

It's definitely legal within the European Union, but in the NHL there is a cap for posts in a row. In the KHL too, but you know how things work in Russia when it comes to enforcing rules...

I don't see the whole Donbass situation too negative. They have a competitive roster with lots of experienced guys. They only lost with a very small margin in all their losses. And regarding attendance: don't forget. Hockey is small in Ukraine and even more in a place like Donetsk where you got a really popular football team and where you just had the Euro.

And even in a league with 26 top teams one team has to be at the bottom of the table.

I am happy for Trunev, made the Loko roster and looks pretty good, at some point looked like his career is stalled.
