If a Latvian fan would be asked to name the starter, then it'd be Jučers.

Well I'm not Latvian and I'd still say it. I mean he started in season opening game, he has more starts and better numbers.

The case is, Jucers is definitely huge competition for Tellqvist.

Maybe I have missed something but I don't think that Dinamo Riga has problems with their goalies. Rather with their weak forwards (only Karsums and Indrasis have convinced me so far).

As goalies and forwads were already scrutinized it has to be said, the real problem, biggest headache, glarring weakness or call it whatever you want obviously are the defencemen.

So all Khabarovsk games from now on will HD or only selected few?

Btw, Zherdev's goal was pretty, but equally awesome was Chernikov's GWG against Donbass. Shame that Yaroslavl have a poor quality broadcast, that goal deserved better.

I'm not talking about the number of starts or stats, because it's the start of the season and numbers won't tell any specific details. From what I've seen, Jučers' confidence and skill aren't better than Telly's.

Too bad you are not the coach so I would rather talk about stats and starts as they reflect on, in this case, more important things than your personal opinion.

Iirc, last season after cca one month Jučers had much better stats than Holt (not just save percentage higher by 0.008 and GAA higher by 0.04 as it is now). You can check the end results yourself.

It looks like Sarnia Sting trying to stop Nail Yakupov from playing in KHL, why are they doing that when it obviously he don't want to play in the juniors anymore? Also don't he just have contract with Edmonton and not Sarnia now?

NHL contract and under-21 means if you're not in the NHL, you have to be in the OHL

(ie. not in the AHL)

they're doing it because having him helps them win, and sell tickets, and they don't have to pay him. They don't care about him/development, just themselves.

I'd say screw IIHF and Fasel. KHL should quit IIHF.

I'm amazed that Jucers has gone on to do so well over the past season... I remember when he was playing for Metalurgs Liepajas against the Coventry Blaze in the Continental Cup, and shipped (i think) 6 goals.

Good lord, I've gained a new appreciation for NHL referees after this Ak Bars/Dynamo Moscow game. Ak Bars should've spent probably the entire third period on the powerplay.

That's what we who have been watching European leagues have been telling you all the time. Every gamenight you see threads popping up how NHL refs suck, but belive me, you should just keep your mouth shut when it comes to bad referees.

I only caught the third and overtime for Ak Bars/Dynamo, and yeah, referees...the Tolpeko and Pesonen thing should have certainly given Kazan some powerplay time.
Ovi looks the same as he did in NHL last season...he's pulling all the moves, fooling everyone until he gets to the goaltender. Also, is Barulin terrible at shootouts, or is that just a one time thing?

And K.Petrov elbowed Novak in the head in the 2nd - no reaction from refs.

I only caught the third period, but I believe it. Did you see towards the end when Moscow iced the puck and as an Ak Bars player went back to get it, someone just randomly hauled him down from behind?

(I swear I'll become more familiar with the players' actual names soon enough, haha)

EDIT: mind you the only reason I was cheering for Ak Bars was because I put $30 on them to win in regulation.... and even worse, I put another $30 on Slovan Bratislava to beat Yugra in regulation. 2-0 Yugra now.

EDIT EDIT: OMG YES 2-2 GOGOGO SLOVAN

EDIT EDIT EDIT: FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU

If KHL wasn't hand tied by FHR, it would've told Sarnia where to go.

But KHL is leasing operating rights from FHR, and FHR is buddy buddy with IIHF and wants to stay that way (since that's where their $$ comes from), that's why KHL has to play 'the nice guys'.

I wonder how far this would go for KHL, could be ground breaking. I think they should tell Sarnia, Hockey Canada and IIHF off. Keeping Yakupov will be worth it.

Can you imagine FHR telling Sarnia that Yakupov can't play.. HAHA! YA RIGHT!! Why is Sarnia putting sticks in Yakupov's wheels?? Completely stupid.

FHR gets money from IIHF? what?

what happens if the KHL allows Yakupov to play? do they get fined or what?

They should just argue that since the NHL locked out its players, their contracts are thusly suspended - and OHL U-21 clause cannot be enacted on a suspended contract.
