Two first-rounders seem a little expensive unless, somehow, Tatar and Stepanek propelled Lev to GC contention...

It's not NHL, 1st rounder doesn't hold much of the value for Lev.

Kuznetsov has always looked like more of an individual talent rather than a good playmaker. Hopefully that changes soon enough, at least by the time he goes to the NHL. During WC I think he played with Datsyuk and still could not work well with his linemates...

So Kovalchuk dives on the ice like the woman that he is and no call, but because he just laid there long enough the refs decide "oh we can't have our superstar be hurt and no call", so they call a penalty on Thornberg. Kovalchuk comes right back out and scores.

In all fairness it was a pretty clear high stick to the ear.

I keep on expecting Kovalchuk to fall off this pace, but he's already got 2 points in the first period... Just keeps on scoring.

The problem is his talent far exceeds that of his line mates. They never seem to be ready for his passes so he just goes in for the kill himself. Either way the thing with the Capitals has always seemed to be sometimes too much passing.

Well they passed it a lot behind the opposing net and then tried stupid jam plays... Oh yeah and my favorite passing the puck 5 times between defensive partners in the defensive zone, greatest transition team for 3 or 4 years straight and Hunter has them doing that ****.

HAHA No wonder Spartak has no fans, they suck! Magnitka is embarassing them right now and the score could easily be a lot higher, Murphy hasn't been that bad. Mozyakin Malkin Kulemin are unstoppable when they are together.

Antipin has also really played well, I notice Maurice really likes him.

OT: Maurice was in a University class of mine before he left for Carolina, a very sharp guy he was. Our prof even let him lecture the class one day... He's a pretty nice guy too, but very sharp indeed.

UWindsor?

On a side note...TORPEDO!!! What a win, what a game. Mikhail Varnakov is unbelievable. Shocked he's not been courted by NHL teams. Semin played like garbage most of the game, but he did get his first goal with the team. 2 more goals from Makarov. Nilsson was the star of the game I thought. Koval was solid as well.

He said that Maurice asked him to have a beer with him and Lee thought Maurice was aking him out lol, until Maurice explained who he was.. He often ate at Sams pizzeria, my buddies used to go there and chat with him sometimes apparently he didn't mind being bothered.

But is Stepanek (or Tatar) worth individually a first-rounder in the 6-14 range?

Zuccarello with a 4 point game tonight (1 g 3 a). Seems like a good move to put him on the 2nd line and not play with Malkin.

It's KHL draft man, any player who could bring something to the table is worth a draft pick and we are talking about 2 national team players here. Furthermore, draft pick range only matters to Russian teams, Lev will draft Czechs anyway.
