Since you seem to understand electronic music, I'll take your word that it takes skill to make that type of music.

However, I can't love and understand it.

I understand classical music, classic rock (Johnny Cash), even disco, but I just don't get electronic style music.

To each his own.

Digitally Imported has a chiptunes channel, but most of it is like nintendo meets gabba. Not a huge fan. Generally I like the actual game OSTs versus just 8bit music, but there is definitely some good **** out there.

The indie game 'FEZ' has an incredible soundtrack. Disasterpeace does it.

I was going to say the same thing. As a college student, I'm not at all surprised at this guy's behavior. Not many people in my age group listen to heavy metal and hard rock (pretty much the only genres I listen to). More often than not, others write it off as "screamo".

EDIT- I really think the type of music you enjoy has a lot to do with your other interests and the environment you grew up in. My dad exposed me to metal music when I was younger, and taught me how to appreciate its various aspects.

Similar to Jabroni, I have hard time appreciating electronic music because I don't really know much about the skills required to produce the music. Then again, I don't go around bashing the music others like.

Well disco spawned house music, so you get it a little then.

Definitely, I'm not here to make anyone like something, but I have to defend stuff I like or respect from baseless hate.

Also, I'm not sure what you are proving by calling Skrillex by his real name when someone talks about him. Every artist on this Earth not named after themselves goes by their stage name when addressing their music. Lots of artists start out making one genre of music and then end up switching.

Some of the comments being made here are out of pure ignorance. No, not all dubstep is good, but neither is the entirity of any genre.
me calling him sonny moore is more of a he tried an electronic album under that name, which got critically destroyed, and then immediately changed to skrillex. Either way no hate intended, more of just poking fun. To each their own

I don't think my hate is baseless. I just find no interest at all in it.

Regardless, if I was off-base in my original criticism of dubstep, I apologize.

Skrillex has had some hiccups (Equinox/Ruffneck Bass EP is garbage), but he's an awesome producer. Maybe the best dubstep producer along with Borgore/Excision/Flux IMO.

When it comes to electronic music in general however, nobody holds a candle to Pretty Lights.

Him and all of his buddies on his label (Michal Menert, Gramatik, Paper Diamond) are the future of the genre.

The monikers of Sonny Moore and Skrillex are/were different genres though.

He was also in a post-hardcore band that had some success.

I also apologize if I try to "convert" any of you with regards to music.

Skrillex is bad and any fans of his should feel bad.

On an unrelated note, I can't wait for Borderlands 2

Oh no. I disagree. The note is totally related as it is about Borderlands.

My wife and I literally played the ever loving **** out of that game. We easily invested 200-250 hours each. It is safe to say we love Borderlands and are buying two the day it comes out.

Probably not. However if you want to play the first I would suggest playing it before the sequel if for no other reason the sequel is going to be miles better, and once you get a taste it will be difficult to go backwards.

You are a wonderful, wonderful man. Thank you for the heads up.

I'd originally Gameflyed it and never played any of the DLC, so there's my weekend between chapters of Psychopharmacology.

Dr. Neds DLC is amazing, as is General Knox. Haven't played Claptraps Revolution.
