After a Lockout - Kids or Vets?

Was wondering what the feeling was if, after say a three month lockout process we return to hockey in December with a shortened season starting in, say, January..

Do you prefer to see the status quo kept and play the guys we have all been penciling into our lineup; thereby leaving the kids in Binghamton for the whole year, or adjust the roster to give the kids a shot at playing in the NHL for a shortened season after they have proven their worth in the AHL for half a season?

If Silfverberg goes back to Sweden, then its for a year. He, Stone, Zibanejad, etc will all make the Binghamton team. Do we leave them there for the year given the lockout - or push them up to replace the borderline guys when the shortened season starts back up (assuming they have earned it of course in the AHL).

Some sort of

Silfverberg - Spezza - Michalek
Latendress - Turris - Alfredsson
Greening - Smith - Neil
Regin - Zibanejad - Stone
O'Brien, Condra

Does this help (they'd get a half AHL season first) or hold back (they'd not get a shot at all this season) their development - and those of the guys in Binghamton who would step up to fill their AHL shoes?

I think you need to keep something in mind. Something that most people miss when they like to see a player play half a season in the AHL before coming to the NHL. When a player leaves a team like that mid-season it does impact the development of the other players around him. There is something to say about having a stable team year long. Sure there are injuries and call-ups are needed at times but I'm a firm believer that most players will develop their skills better in a system that isn't always changing. Adapting to losing a player like Z-bad mid-season is tough for any team, add Stone and Silf to the mix and that's a nuke. I've watched it happen for years, and it wasn't until recently when players started to benefit from having the same core group around them. Just some food for thought.

Impossible to say at this time, far too dependant on how the players who will have been playing will have performed up the point when the NHL starts up again
