I know he's having issues in his own zone, but for those who are watching, is Almqvist getting more comfortable with the North American game? He's now got 4 points in his last 3 games.

Sheahan can't buy one. But his line has been good tonight.

Also, Smith is back to his best.

He struggles with some reads, but his offensive comfort is really coming along. He really has a very good feel for that end of the rink. The smaller ice surface helps him on the offensive end because he makes quick decisions there, right now it is harming him the other way, but I think he will get better in his own end. Kid really understands positioning and has a fantastic stick.

Is Mrazek playing as well as the statline makes it look tonight? Seemed like he was really bailing them out early on.

GR Callahan, 16:07 - Bench minor - Thrown stick from bench, 2 min (PP)

I honestly didn't know this was a real, separate penalty. I find this amusing.

"Grand Rapids penalty, two minutes for throwing a stick from the bench..."

Early on he was money, but the rest have been mostly easy routine saves, Grand Rapids was all over them in the second.

Also Sheahan has stone hands.

I'm not sure but I think Callahan was trying to give Billins a new stick on the drive-by and failed

Mrazek's been good, but almost everything came in the first 10 minutes of the game. Griffins totally in control in the second, had plenty of chances. Shot totals 11-10 in the second are misleading.

Almquist really has stepped his game up the last two games, he hasn't even been bad in his own end either.

That's good. That's exactly what GR needs: a goalie who can step up when the rest of the team isn't bringing it and give them some momentum. McCollum and Pierce seem to struggle with that kind of pressure.

The lines they have right now are working pretty good..

Unless I'm missing something I think:
Nyquist-Andersson-Tatar
Jurco-Sheahan-Pare
Ferraro-Aubry-Hoggan
Parkes-Raedeke-Grant
Callahan

I would really like to see Jurco - Sheahan - Parkes

I know Pare has three goals, but Parkes I think finishes a couple of his chances tonight. Been really impressed with Parkes to start the year.

Before this game I'd agree for sure, Pare's having a strong game today though. But Parkes deserves a top9 role right now. Good problem to have.

And boom there goes the shutout. Can't clear the zone.

Well this will sound pretty common. Evans out on ice and they cannot get the puck out on a simple clear.

Evans makes Ericsson look like Erik Karlsson. The guy can't skate laterally or backwards, much less move the puck.

He is my least favorite player on the team. Just not a good signing.

I'm starting to wonder if he's playing when the Griffins are fully healthy.

Hackett has been amazing for the Aeros, he robbed Nyquist at the end of the third.
