Yes there was another team in New York that offered him more money on the same term, and yes there were many many Montreal fans going squirelly that their potential captain left the team to play eslewhere.
I'd love to see Komisarek do well just as I'd like to see any Leaf player do well. It benefits the Leafs. If he doesn't, I can only hope he doesn't hamper the Leafs progress too much.
Personally I think he has it in him to rebound but I'm not sure he's ever going to recover in Toronto. He might do better elsewhere.
I think Kubina is a still available, Huselius and Hecht too.
There's still hope for a Leafs' style big time free agent.
Hmmm, what do we call Gaborik, Richards, Parise ginormous?
Ginormous free agents would include Mogilny, Roberts, Nieuwendyk?
X-Ginormous players like Lindros and Allison?
Anyway, we all hope Komi will get to play on a team this year, rather than a pond hockey pick-up group.

using his big frame to create space and his skating ability to find open lanes to drive the net. He stands 6-3 and is a natural goal scorer with plenty of confidence.
He's a scout's dream in the way he prepares himself and plays an unselfish game, making smart decisions with the puck. With his bloodlines, he certainly understands what it will take to make it at the next level.
The following is not a joke. Though some may consider my argument weak, I feel as if Mike Komisarek might be exactly what this Leafs team needs.
Last year, in our last game against Boston, a midst the over documented pitfall in the standings, Komi changed my opinion about him as he fought Lucic with everything he seemed to have. Put yourself in mikes shoes here: considered a leader on a team that has collapsed, getting mentally and physically bested, goes out and fights a guy who destroyed him to such a degree last time that it may have resulted in departure from one club to another.
I see his attempt to fight lucic as an indicator of some pretty huge character. thats the guy I want on my team, who'll go out there and try what ever it takes for his team, even if means a personal butt kicking.
secondly, I watched the little tsn segment on Komi and his summer training and got the feeling that this guy really wants to put it all out there this season. As leaf fans we've all seen players just "phone it in" ( blue and white disease )but i'd rather see a player fail miserably while trying as hard as he can, then inconsistently play with heart.
So speaking for myself, a once critic of his game, I believe Komisarek might just have the leadership and personality that the leafs need in these "young" years.
Potato.
Doesnt even make sense....If you are going to discredit the stat and call it a team stat then the variables cannot be huge. What kind of logic is that? The same kind of logic that tells you that Brian Burke is doing a good job? Ridonkulous.
No one can ever question his heart. And he certainly gets the McCabe treatment, getting zero credit when he does play very well. And he has. His time in Toronto, his performance has been very up and down, but no one ever pays attention to the up. And then there was a love fest with Schenn, who often played worse, but who was frequently given a free pass.
Most poised to have a bounce back season of those who were noticable terrible for most the season. Carlye knows how to handle his defensemen. To Wilson, defensemen needed to jump up in the play to support offense constantly, regardless of said players strengths and weaknesses. You could see it with Komi all over the ice, at ther blue lines pinching, getting caught up ice, flat foooted in the neutral zone, trying to make too cute of a break out pass to the forwards streaking up ice. Its clear that Wilson had this stay at home, bruising, defensive defensemen thinking offense every shift, rather than allowing him to be in a role wherer he is better suited. Less pressure to initiate offense, playing with a partner that can take that pressure off. Gardiner would be a good math with komi in my opinion. He is also one of only a few current leafs to respond in kind when the physicality gets turned up. That, and the fact that with the departure of Schenn, somebody will need to fill that role on a second pairing.
Komisarek has never been used properly under Wilson, here's to hoping Komisarek will have a good year, I personall think he will.
I don't see what coaching has to do with his bone headed mistakes with the puck and overall lack of talent and foot speed. He's primed to be bought out if the new CBA permits it without a cap charge.
Really want to see this guy make a good impact. If he works on his skating and gains some confidence with the puck he has a chance at being a good player again

You're dreaming. The guy gets thrown around like a rag doll. I give him points for standing up but the only worse case on that team last year was Armstrong and I was actually glad to see the Boston player beat the *** out of him.
Slow, makes bad decisions, makes a poor first pass....I can go on.

I loved it when Ben Eager popped him in the nose...the lippy useless punk. I hope Orr or Rosehill sends him a nice hello punch when the Leafs meet the Habs.
Don't want Rosehill, I'd rather call up Orr. Sure, Rosehill is a better hockey player but barely. Orr on the other hand would whoop Rosehill's useless ass.

How many permutations exist of lines within a team within a season?
