If it's Five Guys, then I would be ecstatic.

Had it for the first time this weekend. I'm almost willing to give up any hope of staying thin for this amazing greasy delicious food.

Here is an interesting development:

My wife wants to meet face to face over coffee tonight to talk about things like bankruptcy & counseling.

My lawyer says it's OK, so this should be interesting. Hopefully she wants to work together on this moving forward.

Sounds like just another manipulation attempt.

My first thought too.

I hate to be cynical, but get a digital recorder and bring it with you. I mean, she's cheated on you, lied to get the OOP, cleaned out your joint accounts, and generally made things difficult.

Be careful.

These are all things that were brought up at court yesterday, so I doubt it's a screw job.

Plus, she's 0 for 2 in court.

But, I can't trust her beyond things I have verified since getting kicked out. So, it will be just a lot of talk and I'm not really going to commit to much, at least with regards to the bankruptcy.

Scheduling counseling and the Sunday visit to pick some stuff up from the house can't really be a screw job.

Plus, all the attorneys were in on this whole thing from an email I sent.

I'm in CYA mode. And like with the phone calls to the kids, I will act like it's being recorded.

It's all good.

Exactly. She needs a new angle. Not saying it's a screw job, but she may put on a show of wanting to work things out until she can come up with a better plan.

Yep. Be out in public and make sure she knows you're recording the conversation. She's losing on every front, which means she'll be desperate. A cornered rat's instinct is to lash out.

I can agree with the overall thought. However, dude, she's not a rat, she's a human, a wife, a mother of his kids. I can agree with being careful and cautious. But no need at this point to act vicious, or treat her with less respect. Game face. Act like everything is recorded. Act like the lawyers are watching. But overall ... Respect. Even if you find it difficult. Game face.

Got my info/resume to an engineering temp. staffing agency here in WA. They were the ones I worked through when I got my previous job. After being recommended by them to my last company, I was promoted twice within 9 months while working there so hopefully they want to find me a job so I can make them look good again

I'm not worried.

No matter what she tries, the truth has been setting me free and will continue to set me free.

She is the one that is having to alter her game plan because her lies aren't working.

I'm going to go into the meeting expecting this to be the first step to working together moving forward since her first try didn't get the results she expected.

We'll see. But, I'll be careful and I think things will be OK.

The best part about now is that I know I can't trust her 100% and she knows that I know that I can't trust her 100%.

Her tactical advantage previously was that I was trusting her. Now that that is gone, what does she have?

JB, take it from me.

Do. Not. Trust. Her.

She is losing, she will continue to manipulate out of desperation because her angles are **** and she's losing. Let her dig her holes and let the referee see right through it.

I'd say don't let her know she is being recorded... I'd keep it secret and make sure I don't say anything incriminating, so it can then be used in court.

Uhhh, you can't use that stuff in court. That's illegal if she doesn't know about it.

If she doesn't know it is being recorded it probably won't be allowed into court.

Cool calm and collected is the way I'm going to approach it and act like she's recording it like I did with all the calls with the kids.

I have a feeling that I already know what she's going to say and what my answers will be. But, we shall see.

In NY State, recording a phone call is legal if one of the people on the call know they are being recorded, I believe.

I'm guessing this situation would be the same.

But, I honestly doubt there will be anything said that will be noteworthy.

As stated, NYS is a one party notification state. Only one side of a phone conversation needs to be aware that the recording is taking place.

For something in person, if they're meeting at a coffee shop or somewhere else public, she has no expectation that their conversation will be private or under spousal privilege.

Are you going to be financing through that dealership? I ask because I've been shopping around for used cars as well.

Interest rates on used car loans are stupid high right now, about 10% for people with even decent credit. I've considered joining a credit union just to have access to a decent used car loan option.

Is there some way to have a neutral party present? If you have an OOP, don't you need to cover yourself somehow?
