Doan to make decision in a few hours (Still a few teams in play)
Just wondering this and hopefully someone can answer it. We all heard that news that Doan would re-sign in Phoenix if they can get their ownership problem solved. So unless things with that have changed for the worse how can Mike Gillis be confident that the Canucks are going to sign him.

If Jamieson can't sort out the issue with the CoG regarding the arena lease, he will be unable to purchase the team.
Doan has said that he will sign by 5pm EST today so his contract is considered under the current CBA about to expire. If Jamieson can do it in 25 minutes, he'll stay in PHX. If not, he'll leave.
uh just because some random twitter account makes some quip about when the last contracts are due by means Doan's agent was lying about him making the decision today?

Update - Shane Doan's agent tells CKWX that he wants to make the announcement decision in 3 hours.
and doesn't his agent count as something bigger than a random twitter account?
Edit: Sorry misunderstood you. I never intended to say that some legal deadline was the problem. I was trying to state my disbelief of Doan's Agent stating they would sign today. The blurb about "it doesnt really have to be signed until late tomorrow" just was a first wiff of a moving of the goalposts.
In any event, it is 4:39pm, and Doan's agent is reported as stating that they would sign by 5pm EST. I doubt news of a signing will happen today and I think Doan's agent knows that.

Have you been paying attention to what's been going on in the past month? The NHL is locking out the players due to high salary costs. They offered 43%, then 47, and slowly climbing back up to 50%. I can assure you that we won't go up by a million, we're talking losing millions in cap space.
i have and what happened last time around hmm lets see rollbacks because teams would be screwed if they didnt do that as too many teams would be over the cap. what happened the season after u ask oh only the cap going up and same with salaries
I think the longer this goes, the better it looks for the Canucks. Unless there is major headway made between the COG and JIG, I expect a signing in Vancouver soon.

Where did anyone report that Gillis is confident? I am certain that Gillis is not counting on Doan to sign despite the obvious inability of Jamison to buy the team. Doan has gone out of his way to stay in PHX. Until an announcement is made that he is leaving I would not put my money on him going anywhere.
