So we're not going to give an absurd amount of money to a player whose best years are behind him!?

Ohhhhh nooooooo!!!

****! you mean I wasted $150 on my Habs Doan jersey?

Oh well, I'll just put in next to my Habs Lecavalier and Briere jerseys . . .

If there is a season this year, I would love for the Habs to bring back Andrei for a year or two. At least it will give the team some options at the forward position, especially with Bourque out for 2-3 months.

I knew he would not come here or go anywhere else for that matter. His heart is set on Phoenix and he will stay there. I would also be reluctant to sign a player of his age, and playing style (lots of wear and tear), to a long-term contract.

Dian would have been an almost perfect addition, just not at the rumored price tag/term, so probably good that we missed that boat.

I really wonder what the habs legit offer was, could they really have valued him at 7+M$ for four years?

Seems crazy, even if buffalo had that offer on the table.

I wonder if this mean MB pursues another UFA (arnott, if he is willing to play mostly at W, would be a good short term fit IMO), or if he decides to roll the dice and hope that 1-2 of Leblanc-palushaj-Gallagher-geoffrion-gally(if he's too good to go back to jrs & habs decide using him on the W for a year-or moving an incumbent to the w, is a better option) show enough in pre-season/camp to adequately fill our top 6 holes.

And there is always the option of Armstrong-Prust-moen all ending up in top 9 roles, which might work out well enough short term (perhaps just long enough for some of those young guys to build up enough confidence in Hamilton to make a mid-season jump)

Very interested to see their Approach, patient or aggressive, youth driven or veteran band-aid....

Glad we didn't sign him. He's too old and will be way too overpriced.

I'm still hoping AK46 gets an offer cuz I'm sure he's still waiting for one from the habs

Doan is a Jet/Coyote.

He is one of those guys who should end his career with the team that drafted him.

At this point I'd give AK a one year "show me" deal. Let him get his value up for a contract next year. we need his scoring in the top 9.

You didn't buy a Marian Hossa Habs jersey?

Not only was it extremely unlikely that Doan would sign with the Habs but it would be a blunder to sign him. His salary would rule out any other major trade or signing if the opportunity arose, not to mention that his productivity could expire before his contract.

Wait, where does it say he ruled out the Habs exactly? I know we aren't a contender and the chances that he signs here are close to zero but he never technically ruled the Habs out.

“It's one of those things I went through a list of criteria of what I would need if I was to go somewhere, and obviously there are a few teams that have hit that criteria,” Doan said.

He'll only re-sign with the Yotes if the team gets sold in the next week. This has been going on for 3 years. It's not closing this week. He'll be signing elsewhere.
