Normally ESPN knows absolutely nothing about sports in general, but they really hit the nail on the head this time.

I suppose a broken clock is at least right twice a day.

The Coyotes were the highest ranked team in the NHL apparently. I get that is in large part due to wins vs. revenue from fans (bang for the buck, as they call it), but I don't think the Leafs mind coming in last on whatever list the Coyotes come first in. Strangely enough, the Coyotes didn't rank first in bang for the buck, somehow the Grizzlies are worse/better.

TML last because they are the worst. 45 glorious years and counting.

...Coyotes 100th for ownership....now who would that owner be?!

atlanta hawks are 103rd... even no owner ship is better than ASG

also, if you click the stat it will sort by and also give more options - click on ownership and get the breakdown of the ownership scores.

I clicked the link of the Jets.

ESPN knows nothing about the teams future. They're also assuming we're staying in the SE division.

If we're there for another year, the NHL becomes even more of a fail than I thought.

When the list first came out it was the thrashers and not the jets

Took them a couple hours before they changed it

So the Coyotes totally destroy the Jets when it comes to 'fan relations' and 'stadium experience'. Uh huh.

'Fan relations' could include giveaways and promotional offers. Phoenix wins there.

'Stadium experience' could include things like elbow and leg room, i.e. having empty seats on either side and in front of you. Phoenix wins there.

Yup, lol. Spread out your arms and make yourself comfortable at the Coyotes games! Just about every seat comes with an ottoman to kick your feet up on! Easy access to bathrooms and beverage kiosks, with no waiting lines! Don't like your seat? Move closer if you like for an optimal view! A nice, quiet arena; no belligerent fans, so you can hear everything that's happening on the ice!

Plus, you've gotta realize that ESPN is heavily, heavily favoring cheap tickets over just about anything else.

I'm a huge OKC fan, but even I'm surprised they were #1.

I dont think ESPN knows a single thing about hockey, Burke said. I think their hockey coverage stinks. I dont think they know anything about Canada. I dont think they know anything about hockey.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sport...rticle4533604/

Burke is right about ESPN.... Their hockey coverage does stink.

But, Burke is wrong about the rankings.... Toronto is last.

In each sport for me:

NFL: Buffalo Bills
NHL: Phoenix Coyotes
NBA: Charlotte Bobcats
MLB: Washington Nationals

If the Leafs are the worst owned, that means the Red Sox, Cowboys and Bulls are the worst owned teams in their respective league.

Coyotes Ranked #1 by ESPN Magazine

ESPN has ranked the Coyotes as the #1 team in the NHL based on fan experience.

The Yotes are ranked #6 for all North American professional teams. (NHL - NBA - NFL - MLB).

Well, it sure isn't based on fan support or financial success, that's for sure.

Bang For The Buck - Wins during the past three years (regular season plus postseason) : The Yotes have been winning, can't deny that.

Fan Relations - Openness and consideration toward fans by players, coaches and management; : When you can almost have one-on-one relationships between fans and management you are going to get a good grade. The Coyotes are very open to the ticket buying public.

Ownership - Honesty and loyalty to core players and local community; Don't know how they got good grades for this, since they have no owner, but they are best friends of the CoG council.

Affordability - Price of tickets, parking and concessions :
Cheap tickets, cheap food, cheap parking... did I mention it was cheap. No one does it cheaper.

Stadium Experience - Quality of arena and game-day promotions as well as friendliness of environment; : Not everyone gives away snuggies.

Players - Effort on the field and likability off it; : No questioning the effort of the players.

Coaching - Strength of leadership : Very strong coaching staff.
