Who are the best French-Canadian players to play for the Leafs?

I am genuinely curious as to who are some of the best French-Canadians to ever play for the Maple Leafs. Honestly, in my time span as a fan the best one I can remember is Yanic Perrault

I know that Vincent Damphousse played for the Leafs at one point, but that was before my time. Doesn't seem like the Leafs had very many French-Canadians play for them and it is not surprising. Just want to see what kinds of names people can come up with.

That's too bad. He was my hero (along with Brodeur) when I was a goalie as a kid. Loved Felix the Cat

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict you sported his pads as a youngster?

Komisarek is American, just because he was a Hab doesn't mean he's a French Canadian.

The OP mentioned Damphousse.

How does anyone not mention Dave Keon? He's from Rouyn-Noranda

I would say potvin or damphousse.

Maybe someone can shed some light on this, but it was my understanding that back prior to the draft the Montreal canadiens had dibs on all the French Canadian players. Anyone have more info on this?

Jacques Plante (tutored another French Canadian Leaf, Bernie Parent)
Marcel Pronovost (Defenceman, won 2 Stanley Cups with Toronto)

The first Universal Draft was introduced in 1963. Prior to that, players were scouted & signed to A, B or C Forms, though that practice didnt actually cease altogether until about 1970 & ran concurrently with the Drafts albeit at the underground levels. The informal arrangement between the then 06 Clubs was one of Major Junior Sponsorships, Jr. A & B, with the Leafs pretty much skimming the cream off the top all over Ontario, the Maritimes & the Prairies; Montreal had Quebec of course; the other 4 teams, Boston, Chicago, Detroit & New York variously sponsoring teams like the St.Catherines Tee Pee's; Guelph Biltmores, Winnipeg Monarchs & so forth.

Interesting, that sounds like it would make a good book.

Given he's probably the greatest ever Leaf, you win this thread.

Haha, I wish! Most of my gear was all black as a goalie, I was more concerned about having stuff that would go with whatever jersey my team was wearing than having stuff to match Felix. But I definitely tried to adopt some of his playing style.
