Shoulder/arm injury for Klefbom. Not believed to be serious, but he'll see the team doctor tomorrow morning in Karlstad. #Elitserien #Oilers

By the way, Bigos was injured during the second shift of his season opener and missed his second game today. "Lower-body injury".

Hopefully it's nothing serious.

So got to see Erik Gustafsson yesterday. His team Djurgården with Gabriel Landeskog and Douglas Murray played Örebro with former Oilers prospect Johan Motin.

I have to say Gustafsson didn't really impress much. He showed good size, a solid first pass and found some decent passing lanes in the o-zone although he didn't get to show that off too often. He played PP2 and did ok but nothing special. His straight line skating is ok but his twists and turns looked pretty damn awkward, got blown by on a play where he looked like a statue. Bit clumsy at times, coughed up the puck in his own end and got a penalty from a really sloppy tripping when he tried to regain possession.
Never really got to see his shot, got one off where he didn't get much on it.
Was pretty physical and chippy at times. Djurgården as a team looked much more aggressive than last time I saw them, I believe the arrival of Landeskog and Murray helped with that transition.

All in all he didn't look too good. I don't wanna be too quick to judge a 20 year old d-man, especially from just one viewing, but based on this game his chances to reach the NHL are slim to none. Especially considering he plays the SEL2.

On another note, Landeskog is such a great player, if he ends his career without a Stanley Cup ring I'll eat nothing but sheep testicles for a week. He's the kind of player who makes all of his teammates better, not just the guys on his line but the whole team, he reeks of energy combined with great wheels and an underrated skill set. If you love hockey you love watching Landeskog play.

What would it take to lure him out of Colorado? Belanger, Jones and a 3rd?

Guess I should add that I think the Oilers made the right choice picking RNH first, just saying Landeskog is an amazing player.

Thanks for the summary, not too positive for sure, but I'd rather you shoot from the hip than blow smoke up our butts. As for Landeskog, the kid is a specimen for sure.

Khaira's season started tonight. 5 and a game 8 minutes in for hitting from behind.

Tuohimaa started today's game, since Jokerit played yesterday.

Khaira had 1 assist in an 8-4 win. He appears to be the team's first line centre, although it was the second line that got most of the points tonight.

Interesting, I thought that he was going to play wing like he did last year in the BCHL. I need to start looking out for his team's games on the tube so that I can get a look at him and see how he's doing at the NCAA level.

Bunz got a shutout (4-0 win) in Stockton's second game of the year tonight. Cornet got an assist, and Rajala nothing.

Just saw that Petrell has 7 goals in 8 games! What did he do over the summer!?!?

Good for him, I wonder if he can break Roy's club record of 4 this year?

So Bunz has given up a single goal in his first 2 games? Damn that's a hell of a start to his season! Goaltending in our system is starting to look like a strength instead of a weakness if Bunz and Roy's starts are any indication of the kind of goaltending we'll have at the minor league level.

Definitely. I think Roy will be good, but I've just got a feeling that Bunz can be something special.

He has a good shot and good grit, but he doesn't have the tools to play in a top 9 role in the NHL unless you're looking at strictly a shut down type role.
