I've never been a fan of being below the glsss...I love being up just a bit. My old seats with my brother in row G (section 103) were perfect. I'm in a similar location with my Moosehead's seat.

Dont you mean row H Libbs hahaha just messing with you. I've tried to sit near the glass myself with a few of my buddies and I just find it uncomfortable. And seem to not have that "bird's eye view" that you get in the higher rows.

I'm glad to hear that there weren't a ton of empty seats at the open house. That one playoff game where only 4300 attended had me worried. The product on the ice will be a little better this year, so maybe we'll get some better crowds.

I too prefer to be up above the glass. My seats are in 109 Row O, dead centre of the section. I like being away from aisles as it means I have to stand up less often to let people through. I also prefer being behind the goal so I can see the entire rink in one field of view rather than turning my head back and forth like I would at the red line. I guess that makes me lazy

I'd say the worst place I've ever sat was in Sarnia a few years ago. I was in Row A, but right next to the Spits bench, which seemed cool in theory, however every time play went down to the opposite end, every player leaned over the boards to see what's happening, and the poor spectators sitting next to bench gets to see absolutely nothing but players' backs.

The second worst place I've ever sat was in Erie, the row directly behind the Otters bench. The row of seating wasn't much higher than the bench itself, so all I could see was players backs.

I don't think the Erie problem would happen in Windsor as the incline of our seats is steep enough that the seats behind the bench are nice and high. I'm pretty sure the Sarnia problem would happen in Windsor though.

I also sat behind the penalty boxes in Kingston. Watching the game through a minimum of TWO panes of glass is no fun at all. Luckily, the K-Rock centre was empty as always, so we just moved to a different spot.

Yeah Libbs I'm 100% positive since I sit in Row G and you were almost directly above my mother and my sister. lol

To put my two cents in about the attendence. Most of the fans of the Spits that I talk to are Red Wings fans and they aren't the loyalist bunch either. Heck the last time they made it the stanley cup final there were a few games against good teams that were poor attendence just after a loss. Our fans are mostly based of that. I can understand most people don't want to spend $20 or more to see their team loose you can't blame them. For the rest of us loyal fans we pay to watch the good ol game of ohl hockey where you watch players skills develop. I will never forget watching guys like Hall, Ellis, Henrique, Cundari, Nemisz, Wellwood, and Renaud where they changed so drastically from the time where they couldn't grow a mustache to playing in the NHL and becoming the future face of the franchise.

Yeah, Libbs, you're in H because I'm in I and you're right below me...just 20 seats down LOL

As for best and worst seats...

I like our seats at WFCU...smack dab between the blue-line and the face-off circles, in the end the Spitfires shoot twice. Halfway up...beauty!

Best seats in other arenas:

- I like the upper bowl in London. I've sat there many times and it feels like you're on top of the game.

- Most of the seats in Kitchener are fun just because it's such a cramped, steep bowl. Reminds me a bit of Windsor Arena.

- Any seat in Niagara...never had a bad view there.

- The old St Mike's Arena...SRO behind the benches, or top row if you prefer. So close, yet just over everything.

Worst seats:

- Without any question - front row behind the benches in Peterborough is a waste of money. I've sat there a couple times now, hoping it would get better, but it didn't. You're almost below the ice, so you are looking as if you're a player on the bench. Anyone on the bench and you can't see a thing. You have to rely on the jumbotron to watch the game. Horrible!

- Anywhere front row that's right next to a bench comes in second. Players stand up, lean over, and you're done. I wouldn't even think about seasons tickets there.

I guess I just enjoy being a bit higher than the glass. Other than London, where even in the upper bowl feels like a part of the game, most arenas, when you sit higher up, you feel distant from the action. Never been a fan of that.

Speaking of history...

Does anyone have access to, or a copy of the following:

- Cloutier v. Scott fight
- Windsor v. SSM brawl where they were fighting in the penalty box
- Padolka v. Garner
- Windsor v. Plymouth brawl with Cilladi, Ridout, etc right after the Kugel incident.
- Scott Roche fight v. Belleville

I'm mainly focusing on the first four listed, so if you know where I can find a cheap copy/viewing, I'd really appreciate it.

I'd love to see that Sault penalty box brawl myself, it resulted in the extended penalty box glass at Windsor arena back in the day and I've heard it was legendary. I went to most of the games that year, but I skipped that one to work on some crummy school assignment that was due the next day, and my buddies who went to the game without me talked about it for weeks. I regret choosing school over hockey so bad on that occasion, a video of the fight would be sweet. I don't know how likely it would be to find it though, they didn't show all the games on cable 11 back then and it pre-dates cell phone videos as well. You probably have to be Domenic Papa's BFF to have any hope of ever seeing it.

Would you be able to provide dates for those games? It will make it easier to find them.

Will do some research tonight. They were just before I started going regularly, so mid-90s (my last year as a non-STH was the year we played Sarnia in the playoffs and Sim challenged Leighton to a fight...which was refused).

I'm almost positive the Sault Windsor penalty box brawl was during the 93/94 season, it was my final year of highschool. We had guys like Evans, Jovanovski, and Young fueling the mayhem back then.

In case anybody missed it, here's a sweet article about Seiloff that the hockeynews website posted. I can't wait to see this kid in action. http://www.thehockeynews.com/article...k-Sieloff.html

I'm trying to remember if that was the game where Jovanovski was being hit in the head with his own helmet? That was one crazy game!

No, I think that was a playoff game against Sarnia and it was Dennis Maxwell that was hitting him. The penalty box brawl was against Sault, I remember being at the game and I swear it was DJ Smith who was in the box for Windsor and started it, but it's been a long time so I am probably wrong.

yess, i remember that soo game as well. i was sitting about 7-8 rows behind penalty box, when that happened. We had our tough guys in the box, jovanovski, evans and the 3rd guy eludes me...it might have been dave roche..Anyways there were 2 soo guys in the box, im thinking joe vanvolsen was 1 of them, anyways both soo guys jumped onto the windsor side, and got there clocks cleaned. In the process of jumping across, i believe they cut open the score keepers (Borden Hildenbrand)leg for a nice gash. Back then they never had glass behind the benches or penalty boxes..i believe there was some action going on behind the soo bench as well with 1 player going into the stands a couple of rows...non the less because of this they put glass up behind both benches and penalty boxes for the very next home game that year...this game was 1 of the classics and ranks up there as probably a top 3 spits games that ive ever attended. So cuz of this i now have seasons tics behind penalty box...no action like that game again, but we have kyle reid behind the penalty box to entertain us

No. That was the Sarnia game because it was Dennis Maxwell who hit him and I've seen that footage

The only things I remember about the SSM game was listening on the radio and Beller going nuts. They were in this huge brawl, so bad that the officials sent them to the rooms with five minutes to go or something in the second, as they wanted everyone to cool down.

The SSM/Wsr brawl was during the 94/95 season. It's the only season where...a) Cory Evans played for us AND...b) Travis Scott had a fighting major. Unfortunately, the OHL website doesn't go that far back for game summaries.

The Jovanovski helmet incident was against Sarnia and I believe it was the last game of the season. The two teams new they were playing each other in the first round. I think the Spits swept the Sting in the first round and then lost to Sudbury in 6 at home. It was the first season I started to follow the Spits. I was still in elementary school

Thank you all for the clarification on the Sarnia game. I totally forgot. That was the first season that I had season tickets, I was in high school and got them as a gift.
I just remember sitting up in section 8 and the fans were going nuts on Maxwell and it looked as if he was trying to jab a fan with his stick when he was being escorted off the ice.

I remember the brawl with the Sault too. My dad has always been at the first seat on the visitors side of the penalty box so he saw everything up close.

I miss the good old days of being in Section 8 Row F. For a while my family pretty much filled that section. I believe there were 11 of my uncles and cousins who were regularly there. Great times!

actually cory evans played 2 years for us , coming from a trade with london in 93-94 and then as an o/a in 94-95.i also remeber that year, bowler and rookie speedster glen crawford going in on a 2 on 0 in the final game against sudbury in the playoffs and they couldnt score. Thought that team would be able to make it to the finals.

Let me clarify what I meant:

It was that year because Cory Evans played for us AND because Travis Scott recorded a fighting major. I know Evans played two years, but I don't believe Scott had a major in Evans' first year.

Was Travis Scott involved in the penalty box brawl or something? I'm a bit confused why that fighting major for him is some indicator of when the brawl happened. I'm almost certain it was 93/94 because I vividly remember all my highschool buddies ripping on me for missing that game, but in 94/95 that wouldn't have happened because we all went to different towns for university that year and didn't go to many of the games.
