I lean slightly towards the Habs, but I think if the Leafs can get some consistent goaltending from Reimer and Scrivens, they could defiantly have a better season than the Habs. If the Leafs land Luongo, I would most defiantly lean towards the Leafs finishing better than the Habs. If Markov plays a full season or the majority of one, I would probably lean back towards the Habs.

Without any of the unknowns being answered, I go with the Habs due to them having Price in goal.

Montreal, if Markov is healthy and Toronto doesn't get a goalie or Reimer doesn't bounce back.

If the Habs hang on to Pleks i say the Habs quite easily.
If they dump Pleks for prospects than it's a toss up.

Habs. Good goaltending makes a huge difference.

Leafs were good in all departments, defended nearly all of their leads going into the third period. Leafs defense gets crucified but they only suck bad in PK due to the lack of a specialist (solved that problem with McClement hopefully) + goaltending seriously can't get any worse on PK, they shored up on the penalty kill after being absolutely terrible till Nov-Dec. Even strength, Leafs defense is pretty good.

PP: Leafs.
Even strength: Leafs.
PK: Habs "AINEC" until they prove otherwise because the Leafs PK has been 28-30th for a while now. Even 20th in PK next year is a huge accomplishment.
Last year:

PP: Leafs 18.4% (10th), Habs 14.3% (28th)

PK: Leafs 77.3% (28th), Habs 88.6% (2nd)

PP + PK (special teams): Leafs 95.7%, Habs 102.9%

Habs had better special teams.

ES: Leafs 0.86 (28th), Habs 0.95 (18th)

And hopefully Markov will play 65+ games, which should help the PP tremendously.

Ended up finishing 2 points apart despite the Habs injury woes, no offense outside one line, no powerplay, and bad management/coaching.

Habs pretty easily, I can see TML regress even farther next year. No improvements in the off season and Lupul (most over rated play Ive ever seen) will be back at around 55-60 points

Montreal. I think they're marginally better at F and D and clearly better in net.

If the Leafs had a goalie this would be a tough one to call.

I can't believe they continue to ignore what has been a glaring weakness of the team since the Cujo/Belfour days.

Montreal was a 27th place team with an allstar goaltender last year.

Just think about that.

I'm not sold on Montreal at all. Pacioretty, Subban and Price are good core pieces but Gomez, Gionta, Cole, Markov, Kaberle? C'mon, these guys aren't getting any better. I think they have a team with a good chance to be cellar dwellars for next season and beyond. I expect the Leafs to get better - not by much (which doesn't say much), but the Habs could be worse

There is one impressive player on the Leafs, two on Montreal or 3 if Markov is the same player he was and doesn't get hurt again.

After that, the Leafs have more players that are pretty good so I think they have better depth at least at forward. I look at Montreal and see a team where you have to stop one line and that is pretty much it.

The D in Montreal will be better than Toronto fi Markov is healthy and the same player and the Habs have one of the top 5 goaltenders in the league. The Habs should allow a lot less goals than the Leafs.

I think logic tells me that Montreal will be better, but that doesn't always work so I am just going on a hunch and picking Toronto. They have been down so long it is about time they put together on season that gets them to the playoffs.

Habs aren't as bad as they seem. If they didn't have an incompetent GM waving his arms trying to stumble into a good idea they wouldn't have crashed like they did. However, if Toronto can get solid goaltending without sacrificing their good players (Kessel etc.) then they have a chance.

Voted Habs.

Habs for sure. Markov's back, Gionta's back, grittier team this year, unlikely that we'll lose 400+ man games due to injury again this year, no coaching changes(hopefully) and an all-star goalie in net.

Toronto's pretty much the same as they were last year, didn't really make any huge changes during the off-season.
