Most Disturbing/Scary Movie?

What do you think is the most disturbing/scary movie out there? I'd have to say The Exorcist.. my god, that movie kept me up all night the first time I watched it.

Bridesmaids.
And I am not joking.
One part...
Which I can probably not say...
Freaks me out.
I did not know people do that.

Some kid at hockey camp was telling me about some Serbian film that uh... well, I can't say a word to describe it unless I want to get banned from HF. The description alone made me want to puke, I can't even imagine watching it.

A Serbian Film? I've seen that movie before and I know it sounds strange but it's one of my favorite movies. You have to think of it in an educated way to enjoy it. The movie was created with a very low budget and is basically a "shock" film. If you can get through the extreme sexual and violent scenes and watch the full movie, the narrative of it is very intelligent.

Antichrist is one messed up film.
I was really uncomfortable when I watched it.
At the same time...
I felt really guilty too...
Because I thought I was watching porn.

A buddy of mine reassured me it is not porn...
Because no one can feel good after they watched Antichrist.

As a kid Pete Cemetery..the thing with the sister and the weird disease and the kid getting hit by a car....one of the only two movies I was ever made to turn off in my house.

Arachnophobia..yes it's cheezy but those spiders freaked me out and a whole generation.

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me...not scary just downright disturbing. Pretty much any Lynch movie is twisted.

I thought The Poughkeepsie Tapes was rather weird. I really like horror movies though not much freaks me out.

the only movie that scared me was Jaws ...but i was also around 8 years old at the time when i first watched it, and a lover of beaches and swimming ...so yeah. it kinda scarred me ever since when it comes to swimming in the ocean, etc.

as for disturbing flicks ...a few would be:

Cannibal Holocaust
Irreversible
Imprint (from the Masters of Horror series)
Man Bites Dog
Aftermath
I Spit On Your Grave
Funny Games

Serbian Film, Cannibal Holocaust and Human Centipede are the only movies that should be brought up in here.

I think it's really a shame that good, provocative horror has been supplanted by this torture porn snuff film BS championed by the internet generation. I partially blame those Saw films for this movement.

The Shining, Alien, Poltergeist, these were all good, fun, genuinely scary horror films. "Horror" films today are either something totally over the top (A Serbian Film, Human Centipede) in which it ceases to even be a movie and simply becomes a spectacle, some kind of found footage rip off, or another bad iteration of an already used narrative.

Horror is basically a dead genre to me, having been replaced by shock films or found footage, both of which are certifiable genres at this point.

Last good horror movie I saw was Insidious. Before that, lord, I can't even remember. Maybe the first Ring movie?

Serbian film, but "August Underground's Mordum" is just as bad based on it's description.

The only movie that truly scared me was The Thing back in the day.To this day that is still one of my all time favs.

As far as disturbing flicks go Ill just list these.

Maniac (not a fan by any means but Spinell (?) plays the part of the psychopath to a uncomfortable T.)

Henry: A portrait of a serial killer (Rooker is a little too convincing and need I mention the infamous Home Invasion scene?)

Battle Royale (yes the thought of a program like this installed by a nations goverment is pretty disturbing)

The August Underground movies are just useless "Shock" trash with no redeeming qualities.

Men behind the Sun was actually pretty decent until the famous cat scene comes on. I am no animal lover by any means but if that was a real cat then **** them. The world should know about the horrors of Unit 731 but that scene was completely unneeded and added nothing to the film.
