I agree with letting Swisher walk, however I also feel there is no need to have any full-time DH. Let Nix or Nunez play full time and rotate A-Rod in mainly as DH/3b. Get Gardner healthy for a full season and re-sign Ichiro. The line-up becomes A LOT more balanced with just those moves.....
They NEED to get younger. They need to be able to manufacture runs. That puts speed at both the top and the bottom of the order. The DH spot should be used almost totally to give Jeter and ARod games as a DH. Just use a platoon there an leave the rest as is. That line-up should have at least (3) .300+ hitters (Jeter, Cano, Ichiro/Gardner)
This a realistic lineup and one I'd be on board with. All of you saying to let Granderson go are nuts. Club option for 13 mil and the guy was second in the majors in HRs. You think they'll let him go? Ha.

2009 Yankees relied on long ball as well. That one turned out pretty good. Problem with 2012 Yankees is that they have lots of guys who are looking clueless at the plate at the moment (A-Rod, Swisher, Granderson, Martin). That's 4 guys that are pretty much automatic outs right now, you dont win with that. Slumping at the wrong time unfortunately.

I fully support Gardner in for Swisher. I would have stuck with A-Rod and Nix, though. Not too disappointed, but A-Rod has success against Verlander, and Chavez isn't hitting a thing either. Hard to argue with 0-18 with 12 Ks against RHP, however.

Sorry, Yankee stadium isn't selling tix like they used to. The empty seats in the playoffs prove that. And the economy will only get worse this upcoming year...hence Grandy & Swisher being pretty much gone next year. These corporations, like the Yankees, aren't stupid, they know rough times are ahead, hence the lack of hiring. Arod is a huuuuuge albatross on this team til 2017.
Arod is in Chris Drury territory. Too bad Drury wasn't hopped up on roids for a stanley cup run, but it is what it is.
Well you're stuck with him either way. Are you going to continue to watch him strike out in the middle of the order or are you going to give him a job he can do and get the most use out of it that you can?
Jones would be a huge improvement over Granderson right now. Granderson is terrible in the field, zero range, noodle arm and strikes out more often than any Yankee on the roster.
I have zero faith in this guy. This offense has been overly reliant on the home run for years and he's failed to address the problem. In fact his acquisitions have exacerbated the problem.
- Get rid of A-Rod. If they can't, bury him in the minors or bench him until he retires. He's a washed up minor leaguer at this point.
Bit of a contradiction here. You want to fire Long. That implies the stagnant offense is the hitting coach's fault. Then you want to get rid of three (at least two) of the team's purported offensive weapons. So which is it? The hitting coach underachieving or those guys underachieving?
I didn't hear many people complaining about Long when Granderson was hitting 43 HRs with 106 RBI or when Swisher was hitting 24 HRs with 93 RBI.
Love to know how you think they are going to get rid of A-Rod when he's still owed 114M.

Long coaches for an HR dependent or NOTHING swing...
