One other possibility it it's Kirk's brother based on that Family description but I'm sticking with Mitchell.

The teaser trailer for the new Star Trek movie goes live in 2 hours!

The teaser trailer for the new Star Trek movie 'Star Trek Into Darkness' will be going live @ 12:01am PST tonight. That's just under 2 hours from now. From what I understand it will be found @ www.startrekmovie.com

This will be a one minute trailer apparently and will have different footage than the trailer that will be showing before The Hobbit next weekend.

Yeah, I agree. The clincher for me was seeing how much Alice Eve's character looks like Elizabeth Dehner.

The Japanese version has a Wrath of Khan like moment at the end.

Not that impressed. A lot of sound & fury, without the barest hint of what the film is actually about.

The trailer looks like a mish-mash remake of a couple of different plot elements from the series/old movies. Whether the story is that bad or it will all come together in the movie I'll have to wait to see. Elsehwere I've already read people claiming just from the trailer how great it will be and other people claiming how awful it will be. The trailer, imo, is a mixed bag but I'll reserve judgment on the flick until I see it.

Maybe we're seeing scenes from the next two movies eh? To save money, did they film two films at once...?

As someone who can't stand the TV show that looks pretty awesome and I can't help finding myself wanting Cumberbatch to win.

Star Trek is based on the future where space travel is possible.

I always wanted to know what would happen if the Enterprise crashed in to the ocean. Can we at least get a Klingon?

Looks like a bloated CGI fest.

The first one was garbage, IMO, and made a mockery of the Star Trek franchise.

Star Trek has always been about smart science fiction, intriguing characters, and wonderful and engaging alien races and worlds.

This new series of Trek has so far been nothing more than non-stop action, the overuse of CGI, and story lines and plots that don't make any sense, such as:

- The Romulans home system star goes Supernova with zero notice (really!?)
- Spock, and subsequently the Vulcans, go out of their way to save Romulus, so in turn, Nero thanks them by destroying Vulcan and trying to kill Spock (lolwut?)
- On a military dpave vessel with hundreds, if not thousa ds of crewmembers ans officers, Theres apparently no officers more experienced, or higher in rank on the Enterprise than a fresh, right out of the academy Kirk.
- Apparently sending a newbie crew of strung together students from the academy was the only option the federation had, to combat Nero (Seriously!? By this time the federation is quite large, and so is its navy, where's the hundreds, if not thousands of other Federation ships??)

It's nearly mathematically impossible for an extra-terrestrial species to resemble humanity in the degree the Vulcans do. It would be much more realistic for Spock to be a sentient almond.

I tend to agree with most of what you said. Some points though. I thought other ships were destroyed by Nero. I have no idea why there is so many newbies on the bridge of the Enterprise. All they had to do was jump five or so years in the future to make it more believable.

No cast will ever have the same chemistry as the original. I will say the actor that played Spock absolutely nailed it in the reboot. The rest was blah. Story overcomplicated and too sensationalist. That's the thing with movies these days though.

A lot of these questions lead me to believe you didn't really watch the movie and are just being hip, as most if not all these questions have reasonable explanations. I'm not saying the movie was a masterpiece but I always like to point out that people who complain about movies lots of people like are just the absolute worst.

They are valid points if you were a fan of the original. I wasn't crazy about he story at all. You're on probation form starfleet academy... no wait, you're captain of the Enterprise!. What?!

It was a fun movie but lacked in many areas.

Heh, Leonard Nimoy's hair was basically the same as Spock's. Quinto's is visably different.
