3 looks like Neely but I could have sworn Neely had 800 games and roughly half a goal per game career average.

Ah, I connected the 865 with Lafontaine assuming it was his points. Turns out it's his games played. I knew that he had an 865 in there somewhere though.

Eric Lindros 1993-2007 760 372 493 865
Tim Kerr 1981-1993 655 370 304 674
Cam Neely 1984-1996 726 395 299 694
Pavel Bure 1992-2003 702 437 342 779

---

order of who's the best player:

prime/peak:
Lindros, Bure, Neely, Kerr

Kerr was the best scorer I ever saw, who couldn't skate at all. (maybe Reggie Leach?) He made Jason Allison look like Pave Bure.

So of the 4, only Kerr misses the HHOF when all is said and done. And that's fine - his stats were good, but inflated by era, and he (unlike teammate Propp) didn't provide anything when he wasn't scoring. Solid HOVG for Kerr, though

The point is why is Neely in the HOF, but Lindros and Bure, who have better numbers, isn't. Also, Kerr has just about the same numbers as Neely and is never considered.

I think your point went over most of our heads, because Bure is now in the HHOF, and most of us think that Lindros gets in after the committee is done "punishing" him for his sins

I forgot that Bure finally got in. What "sins" did Lindros commit?

Numbers, in isolation, tell an odd story in sports though, especially with hockey since on-ice value and impact is often far-removed from statistics. Obvious to most on this particular board!

Are any of these guys worthy of HHOF?
  • Rene Robert 744 284 418 702
  • Rick Martin 685 384 317 701
  • Mike Bullard 727 329 345 674
  • Ziggy Palffy 684 329 384 713
  • Craig Janney 760 188 563 751
  • Dany Heatley 751 349 393 742
I'd say no.

Yet, the prior group, I'd say "yes" to Lindros & Bure & Neely, based on those already in there, and Kerr a "no", like the above.

I'd like a more exclusive HHOF but that's a discussion for another thread.
