In regards to prospect development: Playing them on your top NHL line if they do crap all doesn't seem to do anything.
I played a guy on the the NHL 1st line and then restarted by sending the same guy back to Junior. In both cases the person grew by the exact same amount.
Every year Murray/Bartschi always seem to make a huge jump as well as Eric Gryba? for me, so also confused on it so far!

Also forgot to mention, I played Turris on our second line all year. He had 50 points (career high) but he stayed at 80 overall.
Meanwhile Zack Smith jumps from 76 to 82.
I'm going to have to try out some other teams and try to develop their prospects.

Are you just looking at the player's overall, or the individual attributes. EA does have a tendency to have weird weighting in the overall calculation. For example in NHL 12, you could have two prospects that go up the same amount in individual ratings, however one of them reached a poise of 75 which gives him a 3-4 overall point increase while the other player was still stuck with a poise lower than 75 so it looks like one player jumped while the other didn't.
Poise works a bit different in this game. It will raise a player's overall by maybe 1 point, but it is nowhere near as drastic as NHL12. Basically I was looking at a combination of Overall and actual skill growth. Most players got up by a point or two overall. It seems only a few guys, and these are the same guys each time, go up by a huge amount at the end of the first season.
Didn't feel like making a new thread, but I am Ottawa in my friends Gm connect and need your opinion on a few things,
Here is my line
Alfredsson - Spezza - Petersson
Lantendresse - Turris - Michalek
Greening - Regin - Neil (LOVE this line)
Da Costa - Smith - Condra
Zibanejad would be here, but sustained a concussion for effin 42 games.
Phillips - Karlsson
Gonchar - Kuba
Cowen - Lundin
Few things,
Michalek absolutely sucks in this game for some reason. The guy can shoot, but the only thing he does is skate in and lose the puck (I play as centre only).
I am a being fan of Regin and Smith. Both will be really solid bottom 6 centres, but I'm thinking of getting a 2nd line centre and move Turris to wing and getting a goalscoring winger, maybe Semin?
I am in a uncertain situation because I'm wondering if I should wait for my prospects like Stone and Silfverberg, or go out and get some players via trade and free agency.
Also I HAD to get Kuba back, because the core I had then was just brutal and wouldn't hit anyone, making the players just walk in and score effin goals. I'm trying to get rid of Gonchar to make room for Ceci, but I think Cody is still two seasons away from making the big leagues. So should I just keep Gonchar and wait for Ceci, or go after another top 4 TWD with decent potential? Lately though the whole core has been pretty solid.
My other problem is both of my goalers are complete bull**** with Anderson and Auld. Seriously both can't even stop beachballs and have gotten to a horrible recorded of 5-13-2 record with them and had to call up Lehner which I went on a three game winning streak. So my question is should I try and make the players? Or focus on the rebuild and wait for my prospects to mature. So far I got 3 first rounds including my own.
I am actually going to have to drop out of this. I won't have as much time to dedicate it as I thought I would. I'm the San Jose Sharks, Goodluck everyone!

Sorry to hear that but at the same time I'm fortunate you left me a good team to work with!
Haven't looked much into the roster but always ears for trade proposals.

Let me know if you figure it out haha. All my prospects are busting ouside of my 87 ovr Mackinnon, which is bad news for me since ive traded all my vets for picks / prospects haha

You should trade Michalek and Regin in a package for a defenseman. Add a first and you can get a real good one Kuba is gonna regress hard, and if you are using him as a defensive d, it wont work out. . Smith can move up a line easily to replace Regin. Lehner should be a starting goalie after a year or two.
Sounds like you dont need a winger since Zib will be coming back soon. And Stone and Silf have bad ratings and potential so they probably top out as third liners. Just my opinion but a defensive or two way dman is your biggest need.
