Either means Montador is worse than we thought and won't play again or someone is going to get traded or both.

3rd pairing/#7 guy.

Decent stop-gap signing, I guess.

Because the Hawks signed a guy slotted for the bottom pairing? No reason to trade Hammer unless there is another deal in mind.

Not a bad pickup but if this means Hammer is going, our D just got worse. Better get a big return for Hammer (#2C or power forward). If it's as a replacement for a hurt Montador, it's fine. Montador has been at the NHL meetings though, can't be that bad off if he is flying around.

I wonder which dmen aren't available for a trade at this point.

Since so many teams need blueline help at the end of the year, I can't find a problem with signing an extra quality player (depending on the cap hit and available space).

A one year deal is appealing to me. This puts them at 8 NHL dmen + Olsen. Something is probably going to move.

Brookbank and Rozsival are too good to be #7 dmen ,, Leddy is going nowhere , Oduya we are stuck with , Keith/Seabs are top pairing

Monty still a ? but if healthy he would be in mix as well

Good point on Montador, Rosival might be a stop gap for him even though it seems Montador is okay.

He played 54 games last year. He's fine for a #7, cap hit can't be too high.

Someone's going to be traded. Rosival's deal is worth 2M for one season.

Whuuu? Huh??

If there are no trades forthcoming I'm confused. We have 7 already and in case on injury we still have Olsen who could always use a few games up.

No such thing as 'too good to be a #7' IMO. It's called depth, and it's a good thing to have.

Higher than I expected. I still like the depth especially with some of the injuries at D last year.

Maybe there's something to Jaeckel's posting about the Hawks thinking about moving Leddy? Now, I don't know if the rationale Jaeckel provided could be/would be accurate, but the Hawks could get a quality player in a package with Leddy.

Add Montador and we have 7 Dmen without Rozsival. Ha, what about too good to be a #8?

Someone want to start an "Upcoming Trade Prediction" thread?

Bernier? Gagner? Someone over the hill who won't be able to keep up?

Bowman likes his young players ,, And it makes no sense to move young blood off blue like when there is reallly no one close in system (I also dont think Clendening will be as good as Leddy)

If they did move Leddy ,, It better be for a longterm #2 C ( A guy like Pavelski or Plekanec)

Leddy + TT for Getzlaf, then sign Getzlaf to an extension immediately?

Are we sure Leddy isn't moving? Rosival is another puck moving type.

I agree Brookbank and Rosival are too good to be #7s.

With the lockout coming Saturday, I would think the trade would be made before then.

Umm.. that's kinda what I just said. They could get a quality player if they move Leddy which might be the thought process.

Rosival was once paid like a PMD, but I'm pretty sure he's more a stay-at-home type.. or, at least, that's how I think/thought of him.

I don't think there's any chance Anaheim moves Getzlaf or Perry - or, at least, not at this point in the year.

According to Jesse Rogers, the Hawks outbid the Rangers who were going hard after him, FWIW.
