Thanks fellas, nope, no renters insurance, the irony being that I used to sell renters insurance to people in the area and here's why I didn't buy it:
1. It's a LOT more expensive in the city, especially my area (west town/ukrainian village) than it is in the suburbs.
2. Everything gets paid at market value. So, they'd give me money for a USED xbox, wii, guitar, laptop, projector etc, and I take really good care of my things. So, when the deductible is 500 bucks, then you're left with maybe a grand, which helps, but not nearly enough to replace what I've lost.
3. THE WORST PART: Any time someone files a claim on renter's insurance, it counts as a property claim. This means, if I decide to buy a house in two years (penalized up to 7), I will either have increased premiums or be rejected for homeowners insurance from different carriers. I used to get really upset at the good hands people when we told an already great customer that he or she didn't qualify for homeowner's insurance because they filed some measly renter's insurance claim a few years ago, it was a joke. Now, if I had 30+g's of nice things, yeah, the payoff would be worth it.
The good news is the thief didn't know much about music equipment otherwise he would've stolen the rack gear, ad converters, monitors, and microphones.
Now, I'm online shopping on the roommates computer and contemplating the purchase of a used uber-desktop: Dual Quad-Core Xeon HP XW8600, usually used for Engineering and Science companies. If anyone has had one of these, let me know what you think!
oh forgot to tell yall. I just resigned from head of media for teens inspiring youth. Why? Because the CEO of the company who i knew, talked to, and reported to got arrested. Im ashamed i ever worked for him. I hate that ****er. I couldn't sleep for 2 nights because of the guilt i felt.
Ah, crud.... my back's had a mild ache all morning, and it's gone into full blown huge pain mode in the past ten minutes. Thank God it's a slow day at the office and I can lean against a wall corner to help ease the pain a bit every now and then....
My place was robbed in broad daylight Saturday while I was out running errands, and unfortunately I didn't leave the dog at home.
Sony VAIO 17" laptop. Had 100+ hours of work I didn't back up because my external crashed a few month ago!!
Custom Built Stratocaster. Had a neck from the Squier Relic Jazzmaster, Body from Relic Strat (cream colored), gold anodized pickguard w/1959 reissue pickups.
XBOX 360 and the recently purchase NHL13 "Stanley Cup Edition"
Nintendo Wii, barely ever used it.
LED projector (G.E. sweet projector I used as my tv)
They yanked a screwdriver from the back port to jimmy the lock on the back door and took my crescent wrench..probably as a weapon.
Also stole the big empty box the electric "smokey hollow" smoker came in, probably to store the goods.
Neighbor said the same thing happened to tenants two years ago, landlord claims it's never happened before, thus there were no deadbolts on the staircase doors or our back door.
I miss my stuff.
That's horrible man. I just had a near miss on Friday. I went to Jewel to pick up some beer after work, carried it back to my car and I guess my wallet fell out when I was getting in or something and I didn't notice. There wasn't even a dollar in my wallet but it had my debit card, my license and a couple gift cards. So anyway, I realize it is gone as soon as I get home, search my car, search my house, not there. I call Jewel to see if anyone turned it in, haha, yeah, nobody did of course. I then call my bank to cancel the card and see if anyone had used it yet, but I don't get good reception in my house so I have to go outside to make phone calls. I go outside, standing at the building next door in the parking lot on the phone with the bank people. I look over to my building and see a car just stopped in the middle of the parking lot in front of my house for like 2 or 3 minutes. I'm a naturally suspicious person so get out from behind the jeep and start walking toward the car. They immediately floor it, fly over two speed bumps and speed away. Two black guys in a ****** gold late 90's toyota camry. I only got the first two numbers of the plate as the light was out and it was dark. Luckily I cancelled the card before they were able to use it. I don't know if they were on crack or something and got pissed there was no money so decided to come to my house or what.
