Boychuk wasn't bad or good. He was mediocre at best, he should have shot the puck when he did have it but would pass it off each time he touched the puck. Whether he was with Geno or Sutter or even Vitale...it seemed to be a common thing with him. It was frustrating as hell to see.

Best of luck to the guy but if no one puts a claim in for him, I wouldn't mind seeing him in WBS.

He was alright, but if this means a better chance for Loki to stick around long-term then I'm all for it.

Nashville definitely needs the offense, Rinne can't get a shutout every game.

Boychuk claimed by the Predators.

Man I don't understand waivers. I thought Carolina had to take ZB back. Or maybe they just have first dibs so to speak?

Anyway, Boychuk in the West is seriously not gonna end well.

So, what numbers will Hamrlik and Kostopolous wear for the Predators?

They haven't acquired a retired goalie yet to cheat the cap, so no.

Too bad about Hammer, had huge hopes for him when he signed despite his age. He's still a decent defenseman, something tells me Oates simply refused to play him, just guessing here but it was probably personal.

When a team claims a player off of waivers, and they put him back on waivers, the 28 other teams get a chance to claim that player, if none of teams do, that team that put him on waivers to begin with (Carolina in this example) then they have the option of claiming him and putting him on their AHL affiliate.

It's a good chance for decent players to make the NHL instead of going right back to the AHL.

Believe me, nobody will claim Kostopolous. Do the Preds need defense?

No. As discussed earlier, there are no "dibs" or priority given to the original team. The only wording in the CBA about the original team is that they have the ability to send him down to the AHL without going through waivers again under certain conditions, if their claim is successful. The waiver priority goes to the team making the claim that has the worst record. I'm pretty sure Carolina put in a claim as they wanted Boychuk for Charlotte (our Beat Writer even said so), but Nashville has a worse record so they were awarded him.

I'd imagine someone claims Hamrlik and takes a flyer on him. There was talk of teams looking for depth defensemen, well here is a guy right here.

Maybe Boychuck can make it to all 30 teams through waivers!

Healthy scratch in 16 of 20 games for Washington.

Hamrlik hasn't been the best team guy in DC, leading to him riding the pine over AHL callups. I think management was done with him last year, but hoped they could find someone to take him.

Hamr looked slow and out of position during much of the regular season last year, and he spent a chunk of time in Dale Hunter's dog house. When the playoffs started, however, he went straight to beast mode - the Green-Hamr pairing was very effective and there were a number of games vs. both the Bs and the Rags where he was our best D-man.

He got into a handful of games at the beginning of this year, and once again reverted to looking slow and out of position. He may still have some game left in him based on last year's playoff performance, but it sure looks like he and the Caps organization were not a good fit.

Interesting note. Cause as you said, his playoff stats last year (20 min avg. per game, +8) tell a VERY different story and I believe would make a lot of teams want to take a chance on him.
