Per NHL.com, Huby is a finalist for the Calder , along with Saad, and Gallagher. It's a tough group, but I think he has a shot to become the Panthers first Calder winner.

Yeah, I think he should win it. Especially with no Yak.
Unless they give extra cookies for making the playoffs, haha.
I've been thinking about this and am curious. What is the minimum amount of games u can play in a year with out jeopardising your Calder chances? Like if u play 30 games in a year, you can't win the Calder the next year. Did Huby reach the minimum in the lockout-shortened season? By crazy technicality can he win the award twice? I know it's not realistic just wondering if technically possible or I'm not making any sense. The most obvious answer is if u are eligible one year u can't be Calder eligible the next year, but I'm not sure. Can someone straighten this out?

Cannot have played in more than 25 games in any one previous NHL season
Cannot have played in 6 or more games in any 2 previous NHL seasons
Cannot have reached his 26th birthday by Sept 15 of that season
The last rule is why when Damien Brunner of the Wings was so hot earlier in the season that many knew he couldnt win the award even though this is his 1st yr in the NHL (aka a rookie). He cooled off and finished with 26 pts so it probably didnt matter in the end.
Oh so to answer the question, no Huberdeau would not be eligible to win the Calder next yr. Same with Shore who has played in 43 games this yr. Bjugstad, Howden, Robak, Petrovic would all technically be eligible for next yrs Calder since none went over 25 games (and in Robak's case, he only played in 3 games the previous yr and 15 this yr so yes still eligible).

One thing everybody on the main boards leaves out is Huberdeau makes his teammates better. Well as good as you can make guys who can't finish. Would love to have seen his totals if he had played with Flash all year. As much as he got grief this year Flash can finish better than Shore, Mueller, or Matthias.

They also fail to talk about possibilites scenarios of the future.
We might see in the near future.. Huberdeau + MacKinnon or Huberdeau + Drouin
Our arena will be rocking for years to come. I almost want to have a french connection (Hub and Drouin). So, when we play the habs..
Therrien called MacLean classless for calling that time out, MacLean said back that Therrien's own team did a good job at that already during the game.
I'm surprised to see Saad on the list instead of Yakapov, but I'm just happy enough that Huberdeau has completed Step 1 of at least being nominated. With the rest of the league unobservant of what is going on with the Panthers, I was surprised he made this far to be honest.
Many have said the main reason of why Huberdeau deserves to win it is because of how much harder he had to play to achieve the points that he got because of who his linemates are. Saad and Gallagher both play on much better lines overall than Huberdeau and I'm sure wouldn't achieve the same exact success playing with guys like Shore and Mueller most of the season.
I think Huberdeau will get screwed out of winning though because even the so-called experts and analysts that we see on national TV mention how Huberdeau played on the worst team in the league, so how does he deserve it as much as the other two? I think that only makes him deserve it much much more.

Robert Svehla would been finalist had he not been so old once he came into the league
