I don't know why they aren't scouting for NHL teams by now...

I would never trade both schenns for subban. He isn't the true #1 defender we really need.
Truthfully, Subban is only marginally better than Coburn overall, but I wouldn't dare utter such blasphemous nonsense on the main board. The argument it brought forth would not even be worth fighting. (NOTE: Someone over there thought it would be fair if MTL got Coburn + Couturier + 1st in return for Subban + Eller.)

If LSchenn can play consistently the way he's been playing in the early season, I'm not concerned about our future on defense. We'll address puck-movers through a different avenue.

John boruk or whatever thinks we will address the need for a puck moving defender this off season. There is only one big named defender that is a RFA or UFA. I feel if the flyers were to offer sheet another defender besides weber, it would be him. I would actually offer more money in this offer sheet too.

Most likely we will need to trade one of our young top 6 forwards (read, voracek, schenn, couts) for this player though. Yandle might be available at the deadline also though if Phoenix keeps playing the way they are.

God damn it I just want pietrangolo on this team.

I think I meant no big named UFAs to be honest. I'm think half or even more of those RFAs are resigned in season the others I don't think we have a chance in hell for. Only 2-3 players on that list I think have any chance to be on the move, and even then it's probably unrealistic

I don't see Pietrangelo and St.Louis going the same way Nashville did with Weber. I see him signing a max term contract on a $7m caphit before the playoffs.

I'd be fine with Shattenkirk, too.

There's also no way we can afford an offersheet of $7.5m or more next off-season. The cap is coming down.

The butt hurt flows so hard on the main boards regarding the Flyers OS to Weber. It's within the CBA, and if the owners didn't address it in the new CBA, than they probably don't care about it that much.

I love how they all call it "an old boys club" and then threaten to "just wait until we OS Giroux"

Why does an OS garner such butt hurt?

Yea, and we are having a load of salary coming off the books over the next 2 years. Combine that with amnesty buyouts, if needed to sign better players, and the flyers could clear 20+ million in a heartbeat.

Offer sheet pietrangolo 75.55 million over 8 years lol

Seriously though I'm at work and wouldn't be able to do it, but someone should do St. Louis projected cap for next year. The last two years they have spent only 50 million. They have so many players to sign too.

I would honestly offer schenn, schenn, two 1sts and 2nd for pietrangolo.

Slim pickings there. Streit, Timonen, and Whitney interest me for quality depth, but still would have the same needs as now. RFAs are RFAs. Doubtful any would be available.

Prongo would go nuts if we got piety. Also we could make 9.5 work I think. I would have to see at home, but I'm sure we could make it work via trade or offer sheet.

It would be beyond stupid to give Pietrangelo or OEL that much money.

I never said OEL. piety is an absolute stud. He will be a Norris candidate till he retires. I really don't think 8.5-9.5 million is "stupid" for him. OEL is a little over rated around here, Piety though has been dominate now pretty much since he stepped in the NHL

Any of the guys in the top 5 would be worth one losing season.

I've always liked Streit. Don't know how much he has left in the tank, but if he still wants to play in the NHL, I would look into adding him.

If I took that deal to the blues board, I'm positive they still say no. Pietrangolo is an amazing defender, and really doesn't get the love he should solely because he plays in St. Louis. If he was in a big market, the media would be all over him

Justified said he'd do you deal for OEL

and yes, Pietrangelo is overrated. You always whine about people calling young D men norris candidates but you are doing it now.

Id say Id think about it, not a definite. It's not very often you can get a franchise caliber defenseman and as we know the Flyers havent had the best success in developing them. Though i doubt Holmgren is crazy enough for a trade like that.

Are we just assuming Timonen is done?

Because honestly...

Simmonds - Giroux - Read
Hartnell - Couturier - Briere
Schenn - Laughton - Voracek
Talbot - Cousins - McGinn/Wellwood/Rinaldo

Timonen - Schenn
Coburn - Grossmann
Meszaros - Regehr/Streit

Bryzgalov

I love the idea of that team for 2013-14.
